How do I get Inara to update automatically?

I've not before really looked into this.

Is there a way to add ships, credits, etc., automatically as you play?

If so, how?

Wait - it's something to do with API's. Let me check...

You need to go to the settings tab and look at:

Commander Settings> Link your account

AND

INARA API

look at the info in the link provided in the description.

EDDI and EDDiscovery have a direct update to INARA; EDMC I think requires a plug in. You will need to get INARA to generate an API key and then paste it into your app choice. When out exploring I use EDDiscovery, when in the bubble EDMC

Couldn't remember for definite, hence the qualifier. And agreed it is light on resources but when exploring EDDiscovery gives me useful info in-flight.

Agreed, when exploring outside the bubble I use EDDI as well. When not, it's EDMC for me.

Every once in a while inara doesn't seem to load, but that's usually resolved in a couple of minutes generally.

Being somewhat of a control freak I add to my Inara account manually only adding/deleting what I want others to see when they click on my signature post below. With two ED accounts on a PC and a third on the PS4 Pro I only use one Inara account. Well, that's just me. Your gaming expectations may be different.

You can finetune your Inara profile to only show what you want people to see. No need to keep everything on manual. But ultimately it's your call, I'm just saying.

AFAIK EDDI doesn't update Inara. I've just looked, don't see a setting for it, and i always have to update my materials automatically.

i cant get my materials to load in Inara, ship info / credits / ranks / location etc all work, just not materials

I think I ended up disabling EDDI updates and using EDMC or EDDiscovery but using EDDI for the in-ship voice
