How do I get into the same instance as my team?

I'm having the same issue, took a long while. Switched from Open to Private, then once we got it working he boarded my ship and i tried to jump to a different system. He got errored out and sent back to the station..

I know multicrew was always an issue since Horizons, but I was hoping they'd fix an issue that they even put in a promotional video.

Friend and I tried as well, when we finally got into the same team. As stated before, disconnect on jump. With multicrew you cant disembark.

i was able to board my buddy's ship and visa versa only once and we did one mission, then the server went down for an hour. after that we spent several hours trying to get into the same instance and board each others ship with zero success. tried in private and public instances. this is the feature that will probably make me wait for a patch to play and while i hope its sooner than later, i have my doubts.

Multicrew issues are totally unaddressed in this expansion, they are in exactly the same state as they were in horizons, nothing at all was done.

Played tonight, thought it was going well for a while, we were able to see each other, crew together, mission together... Then, logged off for dinner, when we came back, BAM! Invisible to each other again. Grrrrr!

Primary marketing material they used showed coop gameplay, not only can you not share missions, but there is constant instacing issues, disconnects and more.
If you board your friends ship and he jumps you get stuck and have to restart the game, upon which all your missions will be wiped. This is very reproducible.

I haven't been able to do it. I've instanced with randoms online in open, but a team I've at most had 1 other ship in the same space instance as me. None of us have managed to get in the same instance on a planet surface (even in ships). Not playable.

Yup, same issue here. Unable to multi-crew, disconnect on jump to another system. Tried multiple times. Didn't even try landing on a planet together. So frustrating when showing it in the game trailer as multiplayer. Very deceptive and misleading. Call it as it IS, not as it should be, Frontier. Fix this pronto. I have already left bad reviews on steam for this game, do not buy, unless multi-crew issues addressed, as well as constant disconnects/game load issues addressed as reported over all the userbase. So disappointed. Money > Quality/Customers.

There is a temporary fix, IF anyone in your team drops during a jump the rest of the session will be screwed up for the host, unable to see friends in private, open or wherever.

The only solution is to completely restart the game (basically reconnect to the servers), and avoid jumps for the time being, you can then join the same private group session again and everything will work fine.

Had to do it a couple times while i was trying to transport my dude over 200 ly, we got desynced after 3 jumps each time and i had to restart elite.

No issues with supercruise tho, we finished 3 extermination missions, got a load of materials, upgraded our laser pistols and all in all it was a good run.

I did notice my network settings had been reset and my fixed port forwards reset. Worth checking yours if you use that sort of thing.

We've had some luck re-establishing a Wing instance, by having wingmates jump up to low-wake, everybody turning off the wing beacons and back on, then wingmates dropping back to normal flight again.

Have just spent a very frustrating 2 hours trying to run teams with my friend and the constant de-syncing is making us want to commit sepuku. We haven't played together since Horizons launched and had to stop coop due to the poor quality of multiplayer and I am generally shocked to see its not been worked on at all in all this time and all the same problems persist. This is so frustrating as its so much fun when it works. This expansion was sold on the coop gameplay which is clearly broken. You have to fix this Frontier, it's embarrassing.

Same issue here. Me and a mate managed to get into the same instance on a private game and do a planetary restore power mission. Was going really well until FSD'ing to another system.
My mate was in the same ship as me and disappeared. He quit to the main menu and was respawned back at the planet. I went back to pick him up and he manged to jump into my ship again.

However once I hit super cruise he disappeared again and ended up floating in the middle of space. After we both stopped laughing we tried numerous attempts to get into the same instance unsuccessfully. We could both see our respective team beacons but no ships. Also unable to see each other on foot in the station.

We both decided to try in horizons and had no issues with being in the same instance.

Really odd.

I wish they would have spent as much time on building features that made playing with friends more seamless as they did on redoing the entire UI. I’m guessing the UI was deemed a larger ROI feature than multiplayer?

Team mate and I arrived at the same station and couldn't see each other on the Concourse but he'd already errored out a couple of times just trying to get into a wing.

So we decided not to try going out of Open into any other game mode as it would likely end up us just reguarly crashing out.

Went up to the Military Mission vendor. Each selected a combat zone for the same location and took the elevator to drop ships. Didn't travel together but we could each see the ship the other was on.

We didn't instance together at the combat zone though we seemed to be playing the same CZ. It was only once the combat zone completed, after the drop ship back to the station, that the game actually instanced us and we continued to play for a few hours without any trouble. Everything was pretty good until we completed a ground base mission and I tried to ride back in his ship.

Pretty much the same experience as I'e already seen posted here apart from my being left floating in the middle of a Coriolis Station with landing pads all around me until I suffocated. It was pretty funny and nowhere as near annoying as trying to exchange a module in outfitting or losing an entire mission list just accessing menus.

tldr, maybe not try various fixes and just give the game time to figure it out while trying to do the same things 'together' in game. Has worked for me at least the once.
