So this happened to me last night, I was doing missions in a station 9 jumps from where I was normally located at. Simply put I wanted to BGS something, which I am not going to mention what I was trying to do. Anyway, I started to do a pirate mission run on a system with multiple missions attached to it. I came back to my home systems (again, 9 jumps) and it said I was 'allied' in the right corner.
I docked with the station, saying 'anonymous'. Not really thinking about what happened. So, I went to the bounty screen, and it stated "High notoriety". There was a bounty claimed at 50000 CR. Which I couldn't click. Which was odd to me. I mean, if it has a button here, the game should at least tell me why I couldn't click the button.
Anyway, after doing some googling around and reading up some reddit posts, I read somewhere that you can just 'sit it off' at a station.
There are 3 things wrong here:
1. Why was the game throwing me in this state while I was doing missions in a different system?
2. Why have a button there, which I can't click while there is no explanation given
3. Why did I have to go to reddit to find the answer
Bonus question:
1. Why is this even a game mechanic? I don't understand it. And why isn't it ever explained in the game?
