How do I get voice attack to recognise my hotas button presses?

I am trying to have pre programmed power settings, e.g. When I push a hotas button I get 4 pips to weapons and 2 pips to engines. But voiceattack does not do anything when I enter the option to press a joystick button and then press the button.
It did work on my old pc, (which blew up) no jokes please.
Any help guys?

Have you registered your joystick in the VA software so it knows that you are using it? I think you can have up to two joysticks in VA

Not got VA on my work PC, but i am pretty sure you open VA, click on the Spanner (Top rightish) and an option box is on that page where you assign or register your joysticks, up to 2 i think. I think you can also go into that option and assign POV's etc etc!

I had this setup up a while ago. That was before I discovered the voice packs and started using those instead.

I seem to remember using these two links a bit for working out what to do

It is possible to set up VA to send 3 pips to shields, weapons etc but Im not 100% sure if that's explained in the above links.

If your joystick has an hat you can use that to add each pip manually. I find this faster than issuing a Voice command

I registered my hotas in the settings part in voiceattack as suggested. Now it works really well. If I push a button on my throttle I instantly get 4 pips to engines and 2 to weapons. Another button gives me 2 to shields and 4 to weapons, and another gives me 4 to shields and 2 to weapons. What I like about this is it happens instantly. Really useful to put 4 to shields one second before impact of a ramming ship. I find I now flick between these settings alot during a fight.

I use a HOTAS and VA. What I did was set up dual commands. Each option has two fields you can fill in. As an example, I have both "JOY12" and "CTRL+T" for SRV turret. In VA, I assign the "CTRL+T" to the voice command "turret". When I say "turret", it goes to the roof turret view automatically. If I press JOY12 on my HOTAS the turret command goes off as well. As I use a Vive I can't see the KB so it works well.

I've done that with the majority of my VA commands and used a lot of CTRL+Key SHIFT+Key ALT+Key commands for VA.

As the posters above have said.
Utilise the second bindings column and duplicate the HOTAS bindings with Keyboard ones. Use the Keyboard ones for VA.
