How do I replace the Park Entrance in the same spot?

I was in Sandbox earlier, and I accidentally deleted the Park Entrance from the path. Unfortunately, (somehow)I didn't realize it until I got an alert that the park had no entrance. I didn't know how it happened, but simply shrugged it off, and went into Shops & Facilities to place a new one.

And here's where my question comes - because when I tried to replace it back in the same spot, it was red and would not allow it. If I can't put it back there, how did it get there in the first place? How can I get it back there without starting over brand new?

Somehow I don't think that's the case though, because this particular sandbox was just for building experiments, so I didn't create any new paths attached to the original, pre-generated one that the entrance started on. So technically the path that already exists should be legal for the path, right? But for whatever reason it's not...
