How do I turn a system into an Anarchy?

If there is an anarchy faction in the system, push it up until it gets the controlling spot.
This is easy, but only if you're unopposed. I've just flipped a system out of anarchy and would put up a serious resistance to anyone fighting for the mafia. But most systems on the bubble's edge should be fine.

I'll fight for free peoples any day of the week. I know a bunch of other commanders who feel the same.

Maybe fill us in a little? You might get some interest in your struggle if you feel like you could fight other freedom wars not directly related to your struggle...
honestly I'm curious if there's a discord server or something for like-minded folks that aren't tied to any particular faction. Somewhere a little less likely to get snitches than publicly posting the location on the forums :p

As a follow-up to the OP's question.

I have an alt Cmdr doing something similar. There's a PMF that has been pushing their faction pretty hard (65%+ in multiple systems) at the expense of the local crews who are (were) sitting at 1-3% in each system. To speed up the chance of flipping one of the systems, I have been pushing the local crew (up to 15% now), but also have chosen a second faction to push - expecting that pushing this second faction will also lower from the current controlling factions death grip on the system, thus bringing them down to a more reachable level of influence to initiate conflict. Is this counter productive? I started doing this when I was running out of high influence missions from the local crew faction, and my rep was near bottomed out with the Controlling faction.

Anyone interested can PM me. We're gonna start a fire, a big, big fire. :)

Someone had to do it

Broadly, it's the same as any other faction. Do work for them. Do not do work for the other factions in the system. There are a few little quirks and foibles that set them aside though. For a start, you can forget about bountyhunting, and not only that, you'll likely have bounty hunters passively working against you, intentionally or not - it's a good moneymaker in the early game, and later on, if there are players operating in the neighbouring systems, you'll probably have them coming in and doing pirate lord assassinations against your faction even if you don't have any res sites. Most of the players that incidentally/accidentally hurt anarchies aren't doing it deliberately, it's purely down to the fact that legal careers and bounty hunting pay more in this game than crime does.

You can murder 'em (or talk to them if you're feeling diplomatic) if you see 'em, but most of the time you won't even see anyone who's opposing you thanks to instancing, coincidence, timezones, modes, and so on, and PvP is one of the least effective means of working the BGS in terms of numbers, its value is really only psychological in terms of making people think it's not safe to fly in your system in open.

If you don't mind getting your hands dirty, you can harm the other factions in the system through good ol' murder. A compromised nav beacon or haz-res site are good for this if you don't want to have to deal with cops and ATR, but be aware you'll need a safe port to dock at, either in a neighbouring system or a port in-system that isn't controlled by the main faction. Alternatively, if you feel like going nuts, take a murderboat and blow up cops. Be prepared to high-wake when ATR show up though.

Once you get control of a single port, economic activities like trading and exploration data will help an anarchy just like they would any other faction. Black market trading also boosts influence for anarchy factions in their controlled ports (unlike any other faction, where it harms them - so pirating stuff and selling it to an anarchy controlled port will help them, while smuggling illegal goods into the non-anarchy stations will hurt the controlling faction)

@Phisto Sobanii is the go-to guy around these parts for asking about anarchies though, him and his crew have been shaking things up over in Colonia.
TL;DR

Get in your SRV, draw a big circle with your tracks and then put a capital A in the middle of it. Make sure it's big enough to see from space. After doing this on as many planets as you can (bit of a grind, granted), the authorities will see the signs and make big legs and no mistake. Anarchy will have been established.

From small acorns mighty oaks grow...

That would be very useful! The recent Lugger situation didn't seem to have profited from the short appearance on the forums. A coalition of anarchist would be a great help for those fighting for freedom.

Feel free to drop by our discord. We can set you up with a channel to discuss tactics and there are more like minded people around who support anarchy.

Wasn't there a black flag coalition in the past? Perhaps a coalition of anarchist player groups would be a good thing. The Crimson Privateers would certainly join such an endeavour and we are already pushing anarchist factions and try to establish more anarchy footholds in the bubble.
