Sorry if I'm being dense, but I can't figure out how to simultaneously run BigScreen and ED if they're both in Oculus Home. What's the trick?

I don't understand the question really. What are you trying to achieve by running both? If you launch into Big Screen then you can run the FD launcher from the desktop.
Is that how everyone is doing it? Doesn't that just display ED on a "big screen" and not really run it? And if I run ED from the launcher it'll give me a warning that it's meant to run from the oculus store. Will it still work ok?

Thanks, that's probably a good place to start. I would simply like a way to switch to Chrome to check eddb or VLC to queue up another podcast. And I'm a little confused about how big screen and ED work together to achieve this.
I'm not sure about everyone.
From what I gather from the thread I started most people can't get it working.
Again. I have elite installed via launcher only.
NOT via steam. NOT via Oculus.
I use the 3d setting to run it in vr.
So. Again.
I put the rift on.
Start bigscreen from inside home.
Then on the virtual desktop, start my apps.
Discord, music player etc etc, leave oculus running (without it the rift is weird paper weight)
For some reason I sometimes get a bug where my graphics settings are reset, so I use edprofiler to apply my graphics settings before starting the launcher. and hit play.
For some unknown reason, this for me displays ED as normal in the rift.
Until I alt-tab to the bigscreen application.
When I do it displays the desktop.
Since I find alt-tab woefully unreliable from inside the rift. I use two voice attack commands to focus between the two.
But I'm sure some other method like autohotkey or something would do it.
Ok that must be the missing piece then, I'll need to get ED installed somewhere outside of Oculus Home. Sigh... Still waiting for the silver bullet here.
Download the launcher from the frontier store.
Just login with your fd account that you must have made at some point.
It might also be possible to start the launcher in the oculus install directory but that might still trigger something.
