Newcomer / Intro How do I use FSD Interdictor?

Im trying to learn to do some piracy and I can't even figure out how to use my instruments properly lol. I try scanning ships in supercruise but its not working both with manifest and wake scanner. Then I try to interdict one and I realize that I also have no idea how to do it.

Bind your Interdictor to a fire group. I pair it with one of my scanners.

Select that fire group in supercruise.

Line up target ship and pull trigger, just as if you were shooting a weapon.

If you are in range, you will know - then do the same thing as if you were being interdicted - keep your target in the center.

If you are not in range, you will get a message - either 'get behind target' or 'target not in range'

Edit: the wake scanner only works to scan wakes when ships jump; the manifest scanner only works in normal space (not super cruise)

Wake scanner can only scan high wakes, not low ones (unless that was changed from the last time I tried).

You have to be in range for the interdictor to work. Different ones have different ranges and the range is in LS. You have to be behind the target for it to work too.

Why? You can't use the KWS in sc and you can't use an interdictor in normal space so having them on the same fire button should work.

I wouldn't know... KWS are for bounty-hunting scum, low-lifes profitting from others misery, suckling off the states teet by claiming illegitimate 'bounties' foisted upon hard working pilots by a system that sentences pilots to death for loitering.

I know I have used a FSDInterdictor once or twice some years ago - when you had to do specific mission types for promotions. I can't remember when I last had a KWS fitted in a ship, more recent than the Interdictor but certainly more than a year. (Those over several accounts.) So I am merely indulging in conjecture as to binding both to one button.

The KWS is well worth fitting. I made 2.5 billion cr bounty hunting last 2 week, about 1/3 of which came from the KWS. Those people that say that the KWS is a waste of time are nuts.

Exact figures from my last cash in:

1,865,834,496cr normal bounties paid at the station
405,496,704cr from KWS paid at the station
60,221,34 cr paid by Interstellar Factor
315,496,521cr paid by main faction at IF station
2,647,049,602cr total

781,214,566cr total from KWS = 41% increase
Cost of KWS 121,900
Return on investment 640,865% per week or 7,690,381% p.a.

.....

I hope you don't think I was suggesting that, I just don't do combat much so don't normally fit one. (I have engineered versions available in my accounts if I want to fit one.)

No, it was just that you mentioned it, so I thought I'd get in before all the detractors that havn't a clue how to use one. In case anyone doesn't know, you can make it fully automatic set and forget by assigning it to secondary fire button and binding it to a switch that stays on (X52 slider or rotation ) or the "-" key top right of the keyboard with a weight on it. Interestingly, I noticed that you don't even need to reset it anymore after changing instance.

d8veh, when I first read your post about the amount, I seriously thought you were BSing us, then I saw the pic....HOLY SPACEBUX! Dude, Seriously?!? That is unreal! Contrats on the haul, and my hat off to you for your combat skills.

May have to dust off the FDL and head back out to do some Pirate Mining...sure pays better than Painite Mining does. ;)

Take Care and Check Six Commander!

Death to loiterers, litterers, and jaywalkers! But only those that say Mission Target. If you're just some bad guy wanted by some random faction for shooting an innocent miner, I can't be bothered.
