I think it's a bit like cars with heated front screens. Some people can't stand them because their eyes focus on the lines in the screen rather than the road, whilst others can simply just ignore the lines and naturally just focus on the road.

Personally I don't even 'see' the SDE unless I go looking for it! .. I guess by brain is just easier to fool!

Exactly, its natural antialiasing thats not taxing on the gpu haha
on another note. I had sweet fx in the parent folder with launcher.exe instead of the product/blablabla folder
Realised my mystake after the update (wiped the settings)
And wowowowow i must have been drunk while installing originally...its so so so crisp and vibrant now

There were two things that helped me to "get over" my issues with the SDE:
1.) Apply the matte screen protector mod. It doesn't magically fix the issues with the Rift, but it does obfuscate the screen door a bit. I applied it and like it. I've heard of others who didn't like it, but it's very cheap and easy to undo so I recommend giving it a shot.
2.) Mental adjustment. For my first two weeks, every time I put on the Rift with ED I would be distracted by the low resolution. "It's so blurry!" "It looks like an old game running on a CRT monitor!" These would flash through my mind constantly, detracting from my full enjoyments of this amazing new technology. Then one time I remembered: Some of my favorite games from "back in the day" on PS1 and PC ran very low resolution graphics and it didn't hinder my enjoyment of those. I told myself: (WARNING: Massive exaggeration incoming) "Elite Dangerous looks just like I'm playing Wing Commander Privateer (my favorite game from my youth) only now I'm inside the game! That moment, something in my brain just clicked and I barely even notice the SDE anymore...

the consumer version will kill all your hopes of resale...
also you can remove the screen protector and no difference from original.
but the screen film blurs the SD, so in effect it will make the game less clear.
its a catch 22 - Screen Door + crisper gfx, or no SD matte cover + blur + less clean/crisp gfx.

I also have triple widescreen monitors and played ED that way with over 7k resolution.... but to me the DK2 is better. Without it I have no interest in ED. Just remember it is not a finished product. Do not approach the DK2 as if it is consumer ready. To be honest, the developers said to not buy it if you were not a developer on their site. They said it is for developers and not consumers. Ofcourse most who buy it want it to use.... as I did. I just remember it is not consumer ready and await the finished product.
I would hold onto the DK2.... get a mannequin head and put it on there.... it will look cool. And in ten years the DK2 may be worth a pretty penny.
