Newcomer / Intro How do you change the time in game?

The main game clock is as Arry said fixed and displays the game time which is UTC (GMT) and the same for all of us.
For reasons that make sense to FDev a while ago they added a time stamp to the messages that display in your comms panel that time is your local time.

FD said that the comms panel time was a bug, which (I think) was fixed in 2.4.

I just mentally subtract a few hours from the displayed time; the actual number varies, depending on daylight savings time. If that's too much effort, put a clock, phone, or watch near your system.

The reason that the local time is not shown is because you really need game-time for in-game meetings. Back when I was doing the Distant Worlds Exploration, the ship clock had not yet been implemented and I missed several rendezvous because I didn't get the timing right.

The current clock is a big quality-of-life improvement, but I would still like to see a second "local time" clock in-game.

Actually the ingame time is supposed to be Galaxy Time and more like a clock for the standard ingame time for your pilot. It can't be changed as far as I know, but as GODofDUTY83 said, it can be deactivated. For that look on the right panel under "functions".

We usually only see this when daylight savings time starts, the crop of "my clock is wrong" posts is a sure sign that summer is on the way (a bit like hearing the first oo - rather apt too).

@OP - E D, like aviation (amongst others) in the real world, uses UTC so that a consistent time is used world-wide (galaxy-wide) for co-ordination and scheduling. If you have trouble adding or subtracting 12, then a little desk clock might come in handy (spare a thought for the poor souls that have a half-hour in their TZ difference). ;)

Ahh cool, I will consider it 'Galactic time' then haha.

It wasn't a massive deal, I just added 1h then subtracted 12, or just looked at my watch / phone / other monitor.

They initially said that, but have since maintained it's working as intended. Comms time stamps still reflect the time based on your computer's clock.

Great! That's good to know. It's an easy way to check the local time in-game.
Assuming there is anybody to talk to you.

A couple of kly out right now and the only thing that pops up in my inbox is if a friend goes on or offline.
