How do you find the ancient ruins, without using out-of-game information?

So as I understand it, the only reason we know where the ruins are is because someone managed to figure out the location based on the trailer for The Guardians. But has anyone gotten that information in-game from someone or somewhere? I'm curious as to how we were supposed to find them.

Get someone in-game to tell you in character where it is.?
I imagine the person that found it originally needed really good eyes and a lot of time to spot the ruins from altitude.

The other ancient ruin sites will only be found if FD tells us directly or indirectly as was the case with the first ancient ruins. No other way is remotely possible.

I laughed when I heard that. No way.

FD appear to be under the impression - you'd think they would know better! - that CMDRs will find these rare spots by accidentally running into them as they fly around planets.

The odds against this happening are very literally astronomical.

Yup, apparently so, based on triangulating the nebulae that were visible. Kudos, but...

That's the feeling I get as well. So if someone don't watch the trailers/follow the forums, they'd have no idea how to find it? I was hoping that you'd get some clues somehow, like the messages for the ship wreckages. Maybe not the exact location, but a system, or even planet, or something. Kind of bothers me a little.

I have no answer, but I agree this info should be available in game.
Too much info needs to be acquired via third party websites.
I really want this game to be a self contained universe.

Isn't there some Galnet article perhaps?

Wasn't the location of the ruins posted in Galnet when it was discovered? Or did the Galnet stories neglect to include this particular piece of information?

Sorry, Bongo, but it's true. CMDR XDeath found it that way. Here's the forum thread where he asks for the Community for an in-lore explanation of how he found it, since "I found it in the game trailer" wasn't a very immersive response to the question.

And yes, it's entirely likely that we found it "way too early" because of this, and FD weren't ready to implement the planned gameplay around it.

However, I do note that on page 3 of the thread I just linked to, there is a link to the Galnet article announcing the discovery, which does indeed name the system: Article.

I actually trying to find a short-cut to this problem... trying to investigate things that game already gave me... didnt find anything yet but, if there is nothing there for that problem, then I have to say we have lazy developers...I dont want to believe that... there must be someway, yet to discover... may be some guy already find a way but doesnt want to share it... ;)
