How do you free a slave?

There used to be a charity mission where you provided slaves and supposedly freed them this way, 2 tonnes at a time, but I haven't seen it ever since 1.3 rehauled the mission system. :/

There's missions in the Bulletin Board, isn't there?
I've donated slaves before, and you get faction rep and also "free" them..

But you don't really feel that good, as "slaves" are a faceless resource, like Cobalt, Battle Weapons and Synthetic Meat.

Yep, this is what my post referred to.. I stopped doing missions because they suck.
But yes, you used to be able to "free" them, but at a financial loss.

I agree. Although i think this is a tricky game ethics decision maybe FD rather not want to dabble in. Foreseeing the media spinning ED as an outlet for fascists or racists to role play (worst case scenario). Though i still agree this would be fun for devs to include in the gameplay.

*cue debates on medias role in real world decision influence* -- Please dont.

I digress -- Ill stick to dumping the slave popsicle canisters at the front gates and watch NPC's navigate through the morality of plowing through the canister mine fields to dock.

To be fair, absolutely nothing I have read or seen anywhere indicates that ethnicity is a factor in Elite : Dangerous slavery.

Socio-economic background, yes, ethnicity, no.

Also, I don't believe that Imperial Slavery is generational, although I could be wrong on that point.

Non imperial slaves, being unregulated, may or may not differ on that point, although I'd imagine the official answer on that varies per system.

So, fascist, yes, racist, no, unless you're sick enough to deliberately take liberties with your interpretation of the lore.

HEH, were that the case, I'd've decided to study seafaring, human psychology and heavy weapons usage, gathered a crew, souped up a sloop with more crew capacity than it needs, and gone literally pirating real-world slavers, freeing their captives by force.
Sadly, I can't even do that in game.
