I had it turn up while mining a pristine metal ring but it is a random drop of one unit

As above you can get zinc from mining but it seems to be the second rarest band of minerals (selenium/zinc/tin) i've done a couple of thousand tons of mining since 2.1 and i've really not got many of any of them and none for the rarest.
