Engineers How does Plasma Slug combine with Ammunition Synthesis for PA ?

'Plasma Slug' effectively gives the Plasma Accelerator unlimited ammo due to drawing from the ships fuel supply. My questions are as follows with respect to synthesis....

1) Is it still possible to use 'Premium' ammunition synthesis for a Plasma Accelerator that has 'Plasma Slug' special effect ?
2) If synthesised ammunition is possible; it is supposed to last until ammunition is depleted or the weapon is reloaded, does 're-fueling' count as reloading in this instance ?

Thanks in advance.

At least not last time I checked. I can check again. I have a pair on my scout.

I wouldn't want you to use up valuable resources, I can check for myself when next I'm playing. Really was just idle curiosity while I'm at work and away from ED .

Thanks for responding YinYin.

Well, I just checked.
I actually can inject synthesis.

The bonus damage does not go away on "reload" (getting fuel from the tank after a shot), nor refilling the reserve tank, nor scooping a star, nor refuelling at a station.
Enjoy your injected plasma slugs.

Now excuse me while I go and fetch some Yttrium for a second premium plasma slug.

You can have infinite premium buff (synthesis) if you will follow some rules.

1) NO RESTOCK with plasma on a ship

2) NO REFUEL with plasma on ship (only fuel scoop)

3) If you want to restock or refuel you HAVE TO store your plasmas and restock or refuel. Then you can put it back (synthesis will be still there).

4) NO RESTOCK even if you already restocked before with plasmas in store. If your plasma is 2 ammo out of 5 - ignore it. Don't restock.

It work on every plasma slug weapons type.

Kind of a surprise that not many ppl know about it.

Every my plasma slug is permabuffed with synthesis.

What a great little Q+A...

You know, although for a host of reasons this wouldn't help me in my current interest of PvP duelling, I think if I ever get around to doing PvE again for my Elite combat rank (not moved for 18 months, lol) this could most definitely be a fun way.

Thanks!

Thanks for the info....that conflicts a bit with what YinYin reported in the refuel at station.

Can you use restock on individual items (excluding PA) rather that restock ALL without having to dismount the PA module ?

Yeah - I haven't tried using the restock option (nothing to restock on my scout), but refuel definitely didn't remove the buff.

Volcanism has a lot of rare crystals. You'll be collecting more than you need.

Thanks - using eddb.io I can find planets with volcanism and any given material. But you mentioned 'prospectors' - is there something else I should be doing other than just going to these planets? Do I actually have to find the volcanoes etc? Any tips greatly appreciated.

Much obliged!

Explorers are cataloguing locations: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...Fumarole-Location-Catalog-and-Data-Collection

So you only pick a planet with a known location that has your required materials, go there and collect stuff.

Did some more tests.

I stored a medium premium plasma slug and kept a small premium plasma slug fitted.
Then refuelled all and restocked all (just a chaff module).

Neither the stored, nor the fitted premium plasma slug lost their injection.

Thanks YinYin - much appreciated. I still haven't had a chance to play since I asked the question so this is really helpful. I need Selenium so will be making a trip to Deciat 7B....unless you know of a vulcanism site for this one....I tried the previous link you gave for the prospectors but you need to be granted access which I don't have.
