If you post your distress in the explorers forum anyone that is within a few 1000 LY of you will turn up for free. I would too !

It will not be worth the while of the likes of you to travel 1000s of LYs to a lonely target just to kill it when you and your bullies buddies can kill many in the bubble in 1/100th the time , also it will require organisation , patience , and smarts

Bearing in mind that there are players who are prepared to travel to Sag A* simply to wait for explorers to shoot up, I would not expect that every first responder will necessarily be there to help....

Yes but you are dead already if you have no fuel so what have you got to loose? Someone comes and ends it all for you and you are no worse off or someone rescues you. I'd rescue if in the vicinity for nothing but as said earlier there are always a few people around who think it is big to kill a defenceless ship.

Id come to help even if its 65k ly out. Someone thats that far out has been exploring for weeks or even months and i dont want to see all that work go to hell. Also a rescue mission like this could get the attention of GalNet

You have nothing to lose if it's you that sets off the beacon, its the guy coming to rescue you that is taking all the risk, and once a few players abuse the beacon, all the rescues will have to be done by combat ready wings or they just won't risk coming.

You have to keep in mind that although one player went to Sag A* for that, many more went after him to keep Sag A* safe.
Some people here will persistently draw a rather bleak picture of open play while omitting some facts which don't really go well with their agenda.
