How I think an Islands Animal Pack should be structured

I think the flamingo was mentioned because the choices seem to fall short for the Caribbean. What other animals would you have in mind? Not being sarcastic,am definitely curious and would love more options.
Cuban crocodile, Brown pelican, Roseate spoonbill, Green sea turtle, West indian manatee (not likely due to mechanics but i have to mention it), Solenodons (too obscure and ugly to be a Frontier animal probably), Tayra, Ocelot, Red Howler monkey, Rhinoceros iguana, Hummingbirds for WE... literally any of those are more interesting than a flamingo reskin.

Didn't stop the proboscis monkey getting added
lol true

But i still feel like the solenodon doesn't have much chances (although is not like i want them for the game tbh i just think is more unique than a flamingo)

That said, i would like a caribbean flamingo for the game but as a free animal since it will be pretty much a reskin like the malayan tapir.

American Crocodile would be an incredible addition but I understand why the Cuban would be a bit more attractive. However, Sea Turtle all the way.

1. Tasmanian devil - Tasmania, most wanted marsupial
2. Fossa - Madagaskar, unique carnivore
3. Tree kangaroo - New Guinea, arboreal marsupial
4. Kiwi - New Zealand, night bird
5. Manatee - Caribbean, first fully aquatic animal
6. Echidna - Tasmania, New Guinea, second monotreme
7. Lowland anoa - Sulawesi, small, unique and endangered bovid

Some scenery I would like to see for this concept, would be pieces similar to the big Australia shaped sign from the Australia Pack (of course), but with the various Islands/group of islands that gets representation in the pack

I'd be happy with this, though I'd personally swap the anoa for a more temperate animal like a walrus, raccoon dog, or another penguin.

I have thought about that but left all the temperate options for an Autumn or winter dlc.
Racoon dog, Rockhopper penguin, walrus, musk ox are all great but could also work in separate pack very nicely maybe along with the wolverine finally.

I think islands dlc will be scenery. I like animal packs more but i think there will be more scenery so:

1. Tasmanian Devil
2. Kiwi
3. Raccoon dog
4. Roseate spoonbill - make it out of flamingo rig

unfortunately it is hard to balance animal roster with the scenery pack as there is simply too little spots.

If all the options fall short, then just dont include the caribbean lol. Its not like Caribbean areas are common in zoos and i actually know one that has one, spoiler its a rare iguana, hutias, some insects, snakes, insects and scorrow doves. Cool small section, but not really adaptable for planet zoo

Some Animals not really mentioned so far:
Madagascar:
- Parsons Chameleon: A Chameleon the Size of a cat, rather uncommon in zoos but common in the pet trade so it wouldnt be surprising if a zoo would get some. The only chameleon that would make sense as an habitat animal and propaply one of the most unique riggs that could be added to the game

- Malagasy Giant Rat: Large very endangerd rodents with an active and successfull breeding programm across both the EAZA and AZA. Their movement is like a mix of a macropod and a rat. Would add a very different animal for our tropical and nocturnal houses aswell as madagascar sections, commenly held together with lemures.

British Isles:
- Scottish Highland Cattle: One of the most unique and oldest breed of cattle, these guys would be great for petting zoos, farms (cause we all know once we got more domestics people will build just straight up farms) and just general filler ungulate habitats.

- Shetland Pony: The most common pony in petting zoos, this pony is literally named afer a group of islands north of scottland. With their short size and many color variations they would be very distinct from the equinnes we have in the game.

New Guinea:
  • Victorian Crowned Pidgeon: Honestly surprised nobody brought them up, their are a staple of free flying birds in tropical houses without really flying and would add a ton of unique charm to the game, being the first animal thats mostly keept free roaming that isnt the peacock.
    1673466222420.png
  • Pignosed Turtle: The most commonly kept softshell turtle thats also from its very own family and quite cute and endangerd. New rigg, aquatic, alot of firsts, wonderfull adition

that reminds me, my local farm now has 11 Highland cows with 5 calves this year up from 2 last year 😁. I'm gonna hate tourist season since that's the highest concentration of Highland cow in this part of Scotland

This is my idea for an Islands Animal Pack:

1. Tasmanian devil - Probably the flagship species for this pack, endemic to the island of Tasmania.
2. North Island brown kiwi - Another much-wanted Oceanian species, representative of New Zealand.
3. Goodfellow's tree kangaroo - Probably the best and most-desired option to represent the island of New Guinea.
4. Fossa - Probably the most unique Madagascan option, and probably the one required to make a Madagascan zone in a zoo.
5. Rhinoceros iguana - A large ground-dwelling iguana that would be a good Caribbean representative, although Cuban crocodile and American flamingo are also good options.
6. Lowland anoa - The smallest of the wild cattle, endemic to the island of Sulawesi.
7. Mindanao bleeding-heart dove - This mid-sized pigeon, endemic to the Philippines, is almost entirely ground-dwelling, quite commonly kept and threatened in the wild.
Alternative: Welsh polecat - Surprisingly similar in size and shape to the Asian small-clawed otter. While the 'Scottish' wildcat is often given as a British representative, they are now thought to not be their own subspecies and rather just part of the more widespread European subspecies, while the Welsh polecat Mustela putorius anglia (also found in England and Scotland) is an endemic subspecies.

Exhibit. Because of the abundance of coral reefs around Southeast Asian islands, and the importance of terrestrial island ecosystems to the health of reefs, I figured an island pack could be the ideal place to add marine aquariums. I have chosen twelve species here, all from the Indo-Pacific and, more importantly, all twelve have been successfully bred in captivity.

The twelve species are divided up into four basic animation groups:
Animation style
Fish that spawn in association with an enrichment item*Ocellaris clownfish, Amphiprion ocellarisTiger-tail seahorse, Hippocampus comesBluestreak cleaner wrasse, Labroides dimidiatus
Fish that are restricted to the tank floorMandarinfish, Synchiropus splendidusRuby red dragonet, Synchiropus sycoraxSpotted garden eel, Heteroconger hassi
Fish that hover in the water, making only small movementsBanggai cardinalfish, Pterapogon kauderniAzure damselfish, Chrysiptera hemicyaneaGreen chromis, Chromis viridis
More active swimmers, making slow loops of the tankCopperband butterflyfish, Chelmon rostratusHarlequin filefish, Oxymonacanthus longirostrisFlame angelfish, Centropyge loricula

* Clownfish spawn with a sea anemone, seahorses with a patch of seagrass and cleaner wrasse with a flat coral that they hover over

oh how i love you

I should probably place my own roster. I personally think it'd be a theme pack, but I'll do an animal pack (the first four species are my priorities).

Tasmania - Tasmanian Devil [Flagship]
Madagascar - Fossa
New Zealand - North Island Brown Kiwi
New Guinea - either Goodfellow's or Matschie's Tree-Kangaroo
Madagascar 2 - either Aye-Aye or Celebes Crested Macaque
New Zealand 2 - Little Blue Penguin
Svalbard - Walrus
New Zealand 3 - Tuatara [Exhibit]

If I must do the whole "every animal reps a different island" thing, I'd swap the lemur, penguin and tuatara for:
Sulawesi - either Celebes Crested Macaque or Lowland Anoa
Japan - either Japanese Raccoon Dog or Japanese Serow
Caribbean - Rhinoceros Iguana [Exhibit]

Although I'm also all for a potential aquarium system as the exhibit.
