How long does it take to go across the galaxy?... It's only 83472 Ly...

Not from Sol to Colonia, Sag A , or Beagle... From the southernmost point (Lyed YJ-I d9-0, or Amundsen's Star) to the northernmost point (Oevasy SG-Y d0, or Semotus Beacon). 83472 Ly on a bee line, crossing two inter-arms regions known for the sparsity of stars. How fast can it be done? The current record stands at 6h20m06s, on a paper Anaconda. The new 6A double-engineered FSD opened a window for improvement which, coupled with heavy route optimization, made me decide to try and beat the 6 hours barrier.

So, today the new and improved Anaconda, named Sagarmatha, loaded to the brink with jumponium materials, departed from Varati with the intention of reaching Amundsen's Star in the next one or two days and start a speed run before the turn of the year.

Contrary to the recent Prison Express runs from Sol to Colonia and from Colonia to Sol, where both trips were made under 1 hour using Horizons, this Great Diameter Run (lacking a better name) will be probably executed within Odyssey (still need to complete a few tests)

Private group, and streamed all the way through for evidence (not for entertainment, because it's really a boring trip to watch). Main objective, finish under 6 hours. I'll post a starting date and time, when I'm in position to start.

About 3K Ly away from the starting point. Lots of finger memory to develop, in order to make the run in Odyssey, but tests are completed with success. Spent the day doing practice runs, and fine tuning processes. It's looking good, but some parts of the route are complex and risky. We' ll see :) Nothing like executing to see if the plan works....

i maxed out an Anaconda and called it "the Shuttle" - is the best ship for cross country; here;

stats; 79.24LY normal , 319LY cone jump. I can do the colonia run in less than 4 hours in 160- ish jumps (this can be used as a rule of thumb and will not be far off from your target)

just remember that AFMU before you leave and most importantly to pack a lunch!

wait a min...80k ly in 6 hours is the record...?!? where is this record and is there proof of this.... i beg to differ but admire your enthusiasm - but lets be realistic here. I'd expect it's more like 12-16 hours.

I never used jumponium for long distance because you have to keep resetting the route in the map each time, the when you enter system...syth and wait while you scoop if you need to, it didn't work out for me an took LONGER.... Cone jumps are the best for covering ground.

Even micro managed the route to knock off 10 or so jumps (i have a shipping lane system I tagged at half way that produce fewer normal jumps and more jet cone jumps - I've done this run a bunch of times an can never do 20kl in under 3 hours its impossible, I do like a challenge though lol

First of all your Conda doesnt even reach 90 Ly. I admire your presumption that you maxed it, too... Even for a sub-90 Conda your design is sub-optimal

Second, as Eahlstan says... I also admirew how convinced you are that you are among the best when the best you can do to Colonia is 4 hours (!), previous record by CMDR Ravenov was 1h14m and my best time using the Prison Express is under 1 hour both Sol-Colonia and Colonia-Sol (check Galnet December 3 for an interim report)

Therefore, no point in explaining or helping you improve, as you already reached the Nirvana according to yourself.

I guess youve been missing a few things regarding speed runs...

So, we started a bit late (alarm clock didnt do its job), and after finishing I badly needed a toilet break and some food. Time to take stock. The six hours barrier is gone. 5:50.45 is the new record. The trip was continuously streamed on twitch.tv/jjgoldberg and the tape will be available for two weeks

The final time could be improved (there was an exclusion zone that didnt show up on screen, causing me to drop instead of refuelling), and a Taupe Cobra error that ate 2m30s, so 5h45m is within reach (but I will not do another run unless I find an even better route or new developments regarding the FSD happen). Some of the stats: 337 jumps, a total distance of around 92kLy was covered, approximately 100 jumponium injections, 11 refuels with secondary stars.

Great work, cmdr. I very much like it when audacious plans succeed! Fly safe. o7
