How long will it take for a scrub PVPer like myself to fail my way up to prestige 50. I really want the system permit that it unlocks for reasons.

You need 268,758 XP to get to level 50. The fewest XP you can get from a completed match is 60, so the absolute longest it can take is ~4500 matches, or about 3 weeks of continuous play.
In practice if you get at least a couple of kills and assists each match, of course, it'll go much quicker than that.

The only way to find out is to give it a week and see how it goes. The more you play the faster it goes. If you are in the EU you will get more matches. I usually do about 100k per week with some pretty dedicated grinding on weekends and not much during the week. For a new player I'd say you are looking at close to 60-70 hours of play though Assuming 5 min per match on average and 350 points per game.

i am level 30 after about 15 hrs. i think this is roughly 25% of the way to 50......
I would say i am "ok" not rubbish and certainly not jokergod2000 level (as he may attest to if he has noticed me getting hammered by him a number of times)
so as an average player i am gonna say level 50 is maybe 60 - 70hrs in game.
of course "elite" ranking is a whole level of pain after that (not sure how many times you need to prestige to get to elite?)
edit... I should have read the full thread 1st! but hey, at least it seems my maths were on the money.

Which means only do it if you like CQC itself. If you do it just for the rank and don't enjoy it, it will feel like an enormous grind.
If you are going for elite plan on 1-1.5 years depending on how much you play. No joke. I started 11/26/16 and expect to be Elite by 11/26/17 and I play A LOT lol
