Newcomer / Intro How long should an update take?

This new update is going to take my computer/internet connection over 12 hours to install. The original game took over 24 hrs to download. Is this normal? I am supposed to have a premium dsl connection. I5 with a wireless hub.

Depending on where you bought the game, how the route between your home and the physical server which you download from looks like and how that server is loaded - yes, that's possible. Not necessarily "normal" compared to s fiber or cable connection, though.

Which do you have? The game might verify the install files. That can take a while on a HDD

I have seen it said that the long times are in the syncing phase rather than the download and could well be due to anti virus software etc vetting all the activity in the game folder, removing the game folder from the anti virus software’s cover at least temporarily is supposed to speed things up.

I haven’t done this myself but then todays update only took about an hour for me.

This maybe it. Watching the download, It downloads waits a long time with no activity then it downloads some more. Thanks for the input next time I will try disabling the antivirus.
