How long to get rid of notoriety?

Okay I read that 1 point of notoriety is supposed to take 2 hours to get rid of. I spent an hour last night in a station and am now just a few minutes shy of 2 hours this morning, and I still have 1 point of notoriety.

I am in Open play with the game running and still can't get rid of notoriety to pay off this bounty. Am I doing something wrong? Do I have to sit in the system where I got the notoriety or can it be anywhere?

Notoriety decay appears to have some bugs. You're not the only one reporting this.

Also, even when it reaches zero some folks are still unable to pay their bounties/fines.

New system, new bugs.

It took exctly 2 hours per point of notoriety for me yesterday. I sat outside a space station, in more than one system, and lost 9 points gained through legal power play. I'm testing whether you need to be in open (as the wikki says) or whether notoriety also drops in solo. Just a few minutes left and I should have the answer.

Not sure why your notoriety hasn't dropped, probably another of the bugs with new C&P implementation.

This happened to me yesterday.

I relogged the game and it was fine.

I am sitting in a station with the interstellars factor guy, can't clear it, just stays red. Also tried briefly logging out and logging back in, nothing changed. This new system sucks.

Edit: okay just relogged again, because it is now over 3 hours total (an hour last night and 2 this morning) and finally notoriety cleared, I actually saw it go from 1 to 0. Not sure why it took 3 hours for 1 notoriety when everything I read said just 2 hours but at least it is finally gone. Now hopefully no more accidents in solo play while bounty hunting.

Just finished testing, and notoriety does decay in solo, but I needed to log out and back in after two hours for it to happen. Just sitting in solo wasn't enough.

Ok.
1. Does it decay in private groups also?
Or, do you HAVE to be in open or solo?
2. Do you HAVE to "sit at the station" for 2 hours?
Or, can you run trade, run exploration, or bounty hunt while letting the notoriety decay?

I got a murder bounty because an npc and I traded paint during a furball.
And, a pirate destroyed him afterwards.
I am confused why I got the bounty when I wasn't responsible for the destruction of the npc.
But, that is one of the mysteries of the ED universe.

As you get the reward for killing an NPC that the cops killed, just because you hit it with one bullet earlier, this sounds like karmic balance. But it's probably a bug.

just in case anyone is wondering, notoriety does not get wiped if you are killed by the police and sent to a detention facility.

just tried it myself to see, paid my bounty for killing 2 ships and got sent to a detention megaship,

notoriety is still on 2.

It's a bit of a no-brainer but I was curious myself as to if this could be done, so I assume others may be also.
