How many level 3 scans are in your statistics panel?

I have 201,000 which can't be right, can it? This isn't a humblebrag or anything. That seems an impossibly huge amount

Well blimey. I thought it was a bug.

I just worked it out - that's 320 scans per day, every day, since I bought the game. That really doesn't seem right [where is it]

Level 3 scans have to be how many bodies you pinged.
So it would be easy to have that increase by 20 - 30 every minute or so.

It takes what? 20 secs for a scan? So that would be 45 days solid scanning 24hrs a day if my maths hasn't gone bonkers. Still 23 days (558hrs) at 10 secs a pop.

I *think* I recall it going pop sometime after the 2.2 release. It seemed accurate until I hit Jacques....maybe even the bubble and then went nuts.
I think they somehow crossed over the level 1 and level 3 scans.

The misunderstanding resides in the fact the Level 3 scans shown here are the "honk" scans. Level 2 scans are DSS scans. Does it make more sense now?

Don't ask me why it is like that and why they skipped the number 1 when assigning those scans a "Level"...

Nope, level 3 scans are surface scans done with a DSS installed (level 2 is the same without DSS). What you're talking about - the ADS ping - is a level 1 scan.

Wouldn't surprise me to find out levels 2 and 3 are reversed in the stats panel. I can imagine I've scanned in detail the l.3 number and just honked the l.2 number.

Dunno, that kinda makes sense. As we all know, Chiggy was born with a DSS in place of his right eye, so not many L2 scans, and 10 L3 DSS scans per system (on average) probably isn't beyond the realms of possibility

edit: especially if you take into account all those tiny moons around gas giants

The way I see it, any Level 2 scans in the Stats indicate number of scans that
- were performed without a functional or equipped DSS
- were scanned but didn't have Detail Properties (Resource Belt Clusters)

It's the only way those numbers would make sense to me.

Has anyone actually tried to verify what is going on with these, because they do seem to be kind of suspect...

I guess the first thing is, do they update in real time, or only after data is sold? If they do, it should be pretty easy to see what the numbers are, then jump into a system, let the scanner hit the main star, see what the numbers do, honk, see what the numbers do, then DSS the star, etc...
