How many modules you still store in ships?

I knew the day would come, storage is full, yet I do not have much I want to get rid of. So I begin this week to move a bulk of my modules out to other temporary ships again.

I am probably late to the party .. but how many of you out there reverting back to the same to cover the deficiencies?

I fear the same challenge coming soon for bookmarks .. but again .. what to get rid of when you don't want to get rid of any PoI.

Peace.

I keep a couple of ships around for module storage. Probably 5-10 modules stored in them. Granted, I haven't filled the standard module storage capacity, but I like having some room free there.

I've already got a dozen or so storage ships, and I'm about to run out of storage space again.

It's mostly weapons which cause me storage issues. I like to experiment with different hardpoint loadouts, and I never feel like I can sell engineered weapons because of having to rank back up for experimental effects.

Same reason I have just run out. Respecing ships, but want/need to test out first. So need to hold on to my old items too. Python has quite a few modules when you add it all up, and that is just one ship. The thought of sourcing all the mats to roll these again, I just can't bring myself to sell.

A spare Anaconda is pretty good for module storage - it can store all weapon sizes (Huge to Small) and up to size 7 for modules. I used my Anaconda for this exact purpose prior to module storage becoming available.

Close to 500 modules.

Two Pythons full - I can't bring myself to throw away my good clean drive rolls or my lasers with inertial impact in the hope that Frontier realise what a monumental 'male chicken'-up (really?) they made with the balance of both; because guaranteed, the day I throw them away is the day Frontier alter the stats - just like the time I threw away virtually all of my Classified Scan Databanks and a few days later, a new engineer required 50 to unlock him...thanks again Frontier, for keeping me on my toes!

More storage for everything - data, modules, materials (maybe not commodities since they were removed from the blueprints, however) - must be a QoL priority...unless ofc, as I have suspected for some time - based on prima facie empirical evidence - the devs deliberately irritate & frustrate us with their design decisions for their own sadistic fun.

Revert? I never shifted away from it! Most of my modules are still stored in ships. My mod storage is nearly full with just the ones I expect to move around and swap in/out the most.

i own 5 drophips for weapon and module storage by now ... an an eagle and a cmkIV. no idea how many moduls stored like that, probably around 60?

I have a few buffer slots left open out of my 60 modules, the rest (ie most) are in ships. The module buffer could be a bit bigger if that's what you're getting at.

As for bookmarks, I am well above the limit somehow, so whenever I delete one, it's just gone. There is no room left to bookmark anything new. I have maybe 120 bookmarks. Should be something more like 1000 if it was meant to be useful, with subcategories and filters. Ah well, maybe it will get an update in one of the enhancements in the coming season?

Sooooo... Engineering is turning us into hoarders.

I think it is more the RNG nature of the game is steering players into crazy QoL solutions less you be forced to repeat repeat repeat.

To my mind we should at least treat the Engineers like winter tyre garages able to store our goods we purchase from them potentially for a fee.

In my case even before Engineered modules I own 3 of each class of Prismatic Shield which eats up a lot of slots because I want as little to do with Power Play as I can get away with in its current form.

About 4 Vultures, 2 asps, 1 FDL, 1 Beluga, 1 T9, 4 Dropships and several others just to be able and keep the basic engineered modules and powerplay stuff that i might need. Materials and data are also almost full and i feel like an idiot to throw away stuff all the time. Oh and i have deleted many bookmarks twice now.

Judging from what they give us for personal space i would say.. this game's databases must be a big mess or will become at some point.

Sidewinder bookmarking service never failed me.

I still have a LOT of sidewinders dotted round the galaxy as bookmarks from before we had bookmarks..
I guess using ships as storage will be something I'll adopt, (unless module storage is increased sometime in the future, who knows :) )

You don't give any details of what modules you have and why you have them. But here's how I use module storage these days, after hitting the limit before, as you have now.

I have several ships, each has a dedicated role. They keep their core modules at all times, but can be refitted from module storage for slightly differing sub-roles. One ship could have several different refit configurations. I have a crib sheet that I try to maintain, which shows me why a module is in storage. E.g - A 6E Passenger Cabin is there because it's part of Ship X's passenger build, and Ship X is configured for combat just now. Also, this crib sheet allows me to not duplicate modules. So if another ship in my fleet has use for a 6E Passenger Module in one of it's configurations, then they can both share that one, since both will not be in those configurations at the same time.

As a result of this approach, I have about 45 modules for 8 ships, that have between 0 and 4 different configurations.

I realise you may not want to go all 'book-keeper' on this, but I would at least suggest listing what you've got to weed out any module duplication.

I hope that helped you.
