OK, 60% of you have witnessed a capital ship appearing. Where does one go to do this? Do I just need to spend more time in a combat zone?

Yes - you just have to find the right Empire/Fed combat zone, they seem to be somewhat semi-permanent (i.e. show up in a CZ, wait for a few minutes, capital ship(s) appear(s) -> capital ship will always appear in this CZ).

Checking CGs - yep. From the description, there's another Imp/Fed spat going on at Mu Koji. Should be plenty of opportunities for capship spotting.

Yeah, I struggled over the wording for this one. Simply "killed another player" wasn't right because it can happen by accident (e.g. ramming) and I didn't want to use a phrase like "for no reason" because I didn't want to single out griefing. I think "deliberately killed" wasn't bad although someone mentioned self defence which isn't exactly what I had in mind. Perhaps "intentionally" would have been better. Polls ... it's all about the wording, so hard not to inadvertantly bias the results. No wonder people get paid good money to devise them.

Ah, I wasn't even thinking of PvP / griefing. My character simply will not engage in murder; NPC or otherwise. That's not to say I won't take sides in a war, go bounty-hunting, or defend a trader (or myself) from attack, it simply means I won't just randomly go and shoot innocent ships as required by a lot of missions / BGS.

Which is going to be challenging when I finally try to rank up to get a Clipper and/or various RNGineers / permits I guess.

Wow so many things I've yet to do! Few more things that could be added:

- found Voyager
- seen a black hole (for us non-explorers)
- mastered flying FA-off

Yup, all brilliant suggestions (no/yes/no for me - finding voyager is high on my list, I've tried once but it's not as easy as I'd hoped).

Biggest surprise for me so far is piracy. I thought this was a thing, don't FD even suggest it in the marketing as one way of blazing your own trail? Are people really not doing it? Someone mentioned it hadn't worked since 1.5 or somesuch. At the risk of derailing this thread, what happened to break it?

See.... I would of though far more players would have blown up wedding barges. One of FD's less well thought out ideas.....

Hi Cmdr's

I like the idea of this poll, helps show there are lots of things to try. Can we add one more to the list?

Owned modular terminals

Lol!

At the risk of derailing this thread, what happened to break it?
Combination of things:

No law enforcement mechanism, meaning the victim bears all responsibility. Pirate can rob someone, shoot them if they like afterwards then sell the goods in the station in the same system, bounty or not.
Pirates/player killers ratio is such that most rather be safe than sorry.
Combat logging/menu logging without consequences (both should leave a portion of your cargo drifting in space, so logging becomes beneficial to the pirate)

I think the AIs all carry tea or biscuits, so not really profitable (not sure if this is still the case)

And of course, scurvy.

I have deliberately killed two Cmdrs in the game, both times at their specific request. The first was a suicidewinder (they wanted someone to claim their bounty, a generous offer), the second was a wingmate whose ship was destroyed when recalling on Merope 5c, my ship survived & I shot his SRV.

I've pirated plenty of NPCs but would never intentionally risk spoiling another Cmdr's day - a stranger is just a friend I haven't met before to me.

Not visited the Alien ship yet, but plan to, can't say I know what's significant about Mitterland Hollow off the top of my head, although the name is familiar. Done pretty well everything else though I think. Haven't run out of fuel since fuel transfer limpets became a thing, have refuelled NPCs though.
