How many star systems are going to be hand crafted?

Could be an interesting experiment. Sol aside (we know they're building that), if FD did hand craft some systems, would we be able to tell the difference between those and the PG ones?

Yes that would be interesting to see differences between handcraft and PG :)
I hope there will not have to many differences ;)

I think they said that some regions of space would be reserved and blocked out for future events (Thargoids perhaps ?) and/or addon packs.

I imagine Sol will be available from the start.

Ah events, well I guess we'll find out soon enough. Either way, it should be a treat.

First I would like to thank everyone who posted here and tried to answer my question. I really appreciate your time and efforts.

OK, maybe I did not explain myself properly. You are correct - orbiting bodies are not memorable. I also have played EVE for many years and 0.0 systems and all star systems in general there are all the same to me, how is Rens really different, or more interesting than Jita, or Orvelle?

What I had in my mind are inhabited star systems.
Stations that are not just repetition of different modules, or planets with landscape and architecture of buildings that are characteristic to THAT star system...

Look at Skyrim, I have not noticed a single dungeon, or quest that is same as previous one. Look at how they are crafting 110 star systems in Star Citizen.

Well, depending on how well the PG system is created it could become very hard to distinguish a hand made system from a PG one, if . At least for "ordinary systems" (created within the typical PG constraints).

That said, some hand made systems are bound to be designed that are quite distinct. As you say, not the planetary bodies, but all the elements that populate a system (stations, ships, people,...).

I think there will be the kepler data into ED (to some extent), including a custom Sols System, the Empire homeworld and main bodies from Frontier and all the "name your system" and above reward level, that are will probably be hand made to some degree.

I guess that would depend on the system. If you had travelled to several 100 systems and then you find one that had a world with a series of orbital tethers and a ring, I would suspect that was hand crafted.
