How much do you play planet zoo?

Two questions really. First how many hours have you played total? And how many a day on average? I currently have 126 hrs total. And usually I play at least a hour a day after work. Weekends about 3-5 hrs. I usually build a exhibit or part of the zoo at a time as I tend to be a little more attentive to small details that way. This game has been everything I’ve always wanted in a zoo sim and absolutely love the game and animals.

Hi there,
I've been playing Planet Zoo for about 248 hours now, at least according to Steam.
It was less effective because Steam counts the waiting time and the countless attempts to get into the game.

I only play every few days, but when I do play it gets very long.
Then I can hardly get rid of the game.

Planet Zoo is a very nice simulation, but it has not yet everything I hoped for.

But it has taken a good path if the developers continue to work on it.

But I love that there are so many more options for working on the terrain than other zoo simulations.
Also that you can design buildings so freely.

I just hope that at some point there will be a possibility that the computers will be able to handle the numerous objects better at some point.

Hmmm... it appears from my Steam counts I am playing Planet Zoo way too much. It has my total hours at 603. What's more surprising to me is it states my hours for the last two weeks at 78. Do you realize that's equivalent to a full time job? Hmmm... I think I will have to review and analyze my life?

Not as much as I used to, but that's due to a lack of creativity rather than desire. I want to start a new zoo but I so cannot be bothered having to build new buildings and such again. Yet, I can't bring myself to do random habitats without filling in the rest either!

I usually play 1 to 3 hourse in the evening and chat on discord with my best friend who is also playing ;)
On weekends its more...
Overall playtime: 181 hours

When I do not know where to start for a habitat/building I search for a nice blueprint in the workshop and work with that. I usually change them but they are the ground work and I make progress much faster than building from scratch and deleting it again because I find it ugly :D

I'm not a fan of blueprints. Personally I feel that if I'm using someone else's content then I'm not learning anything. I'm pretty good at the game by now and I know how to make stuff look good, but it's more that I've hit a creative block at the moment.

I totally understand. I felt like it wasn't my own creation if I used someone else's blueprint. But I've accepted the fact that, while I learned all the controls and I know the building system pretty well by now, I'm not an amazing builder and while I do try to make my own stuff, sometimes it's just better to use something made by someone else. I then try to make it "my own", give it a makeover. There's plenty of amazing stuff on the workshop. But I get your point.

Anyway, to answer the question of this thread, I play quite a lot, I have 384 hours of playtime so far. I have days when I don't play it and they just play something else, something completely different like Battlefield V, Skyrim or Spyro. I get the creative block too so when that happens I just stop playing it for a little bit.

Nah, it just means it was money well spent. (y)

I am at 193 hours so far, I spent a lot of time on it in December then almost none if January because of work. I am too tired in the week after work as I sit at a PC all day so just some hours at the weekends for me now.

I know exactly how you feel on this, I have started doing a replica of a real life Zoo I know pretty well and am really enjoying it. I downloaded the map and use images from Google and my own knowledge. It means I can still build stuff without the creative block I normally have because the layout and enclosures are designed already, is interesting to see if I can recreate what already exists.

I am really pleased with my results so far, only issue is the Polar Bear exhibit I just can't make it the size the game requires. I am using Sandbox and would like to turn some of the options off but because of the Polar Bear I can't.

285 hours.

Pretty sure this includes beta as well, so approx 200 hours in the full game. Most of this in the first weeks. Last month only a few hours (10-20 hours?)

i fear, that my new rebuilt zoos savefile can braek again, so i nearly stoped playing. i dont know, if it is caused by animal- or guest-numbers. so i also fear to set up heard animals.

In total 184 hours. I don't play at all at the moment. I am a bit fed up with the fact that the game comes to a crawl mid to late game and in my opinion the balancing is completely off. I will Come back in a few months to see if the game is more polished.
For now I am back to Planet Coaster :).

I'm not sure how much time I have spent, not able to check it out right now. But how much I spend during the week is inconsistent. Part of it depends on if a Community Challenge is up (may play more to try to get into it), how fed up I am with computers after work (sometimes cannot even touch the ones at home), what other things I want/need to work on or play with. But I usually average at least 5 hours each week, usually more.

But when I pull up my franchise and am too busy reducing population or unboxing animal after animal, I get frustrated and often leave the zoo to do something less tedious

Steam is showing my 560h right now. But for now im kinda saturated. My biggest issue with the game is that my zoos are getting kinda unplayable when you reach a bigger size. Its just no fun playing with around 10-20 fps and spikes with even less. The game gets so slow and isnt smooth anymore. - but most of the time i havent even used a quarter of the whole map.

651 hours (115 hours of those from beta), 45.8 hours played in the last two weeks.

If it wasnt for work, I would have many more hours already, I am pretty sure😅

Its really very long ago that a game captivated me like this and so far I still enjoy it very much😄

Yeah, I agree. I got 255h so far and I love the game but the performance issues with "bigger" parks are kinda a fun killer. I'm basically forced to open a new zoo now 'cause my current main zoo is starting to lag and it's not even close to covering half the map or being finished...all those guests (9.5k) are just too much even for my gaming PC and I can't limit guest numbers either because I'm playing franchise and that would equal running the zoo into the ground :/

According to steam it's 327 hours. It would be waaay more if I wouldn't need to earn for a living. Plus, I don't only play Planet Zoo. If I need a break from the pc I watch Planet Zoo Videos in YouTube on my TV. So, you great YouTube Creators: Keep it comming! I need more stuff.

(Yes, I found MY game)

Not on the gaming computer right now, but Steam says close to 200 hours if I remember correctly. I bought the game in the first week of December and played every day (whole days and nights around christmas) until mid-January. Since I have some minor other tasks to do again (like working and finishing my studies) I only play on the weekends now. But then as much as possible and with unbroken joy. Actually quite a nice reward for a busy week and very good for the long-term engagement with the game!
