How much is Odyssey worth to you?

I don't have any issue parting with the £69.98 for both alpha access and normal release over 2 accounts - even if there are performance problems I am still able to play the content available, so good enough value. (A night out to the cinema followed by food and a drink would cost around the same - and would only be a few hours of entertainment)

Since I am frugal, it's a matter more of what can I buy instead?

After Frontier stated that Horizons and Odyssey would have split universes and after a negative buggy experience in Odyssey Alpha (even the elevator stopped working), I realized I would not be playing Odyssey. So I refunded.

Then I saw Borderlands 3 deluxe edition was on sale for 36.00 USD. So I bought that and with the remainder, a lot of diet canned cat food.

Borderlands 3 is excellent. No grinding and guns rain down as loot. The scope sites are so beautiful. Some of grenades say "Ow!!" as they bounce off surfaces. I am not into guns, but even I can see the love put into designing them. I am 55 and uncoordinated, but on ez mode even I can blow up bosses. Very satisfying!

Borderlands 2 which is really really funny was on sale for 4.98 USD. I bought that, too.

:)

I would say about the price of a computer able to run it. No idea what that is these days, but I guessing its not in my current budget plan...

I understood the thread not to be about affording to buy a game, rather than whether one thinks it is worth the price. There's plenty of other games competing for my money and (most importantly) my time.
For £30 I’d expect 60 hours of fun gameplay, so I’ve already got my money’s worth.

If it had been clearly labeled Early Access on Steam, I'd have paid $14.99 for it or so.

I'm still wondering why Frontier didn't go that road. They could have saved themselves a lot of negative press if they'd launched it under the protective blanket of Early Access. Any issues would have been covered under that disclaimer and the community would have done the heavy lifting defending it.

$0.00 - Useless in current state. Rather play Horizons. Not interested in fiddle-farting with a game, weekly updates over course of months. Not worthy of Walmart bargain Bin.

$10.00 - If worked as intended and released but stand-alone FPS game with NO access to Horizons. Pure FPS game, shuttles to planets. Walmart Bargain Bin.

$20.00 - If worked as intended, an expansion to ED which I have already invested time into.

$100.00 - If worked as intended, an expansion to ED and a strong foundation for future (paid and free) expansions. 4 weeks ago when I had trust & confidence in FDev.

A quarter of what I actually paid in its current state. Maybe a half if performance and bugs are fixed. It simply doesn't feel like it have enough content for the asked price.(grind is not content)

Perhaps, Frontier wants us to pay for the new engine that will give them an opportunity to deliver future content or perhaps they are holding back some content for console launch.
