How much Vram do I need?

If I wanted to max out my VR experience with a HP Reverb G2, how much Vram would I need on my graphics card? Is 12 GB enough, or would 24 make a noticable difference?

Your GPU model is more important, as you increase the amount of supersampling it hurts performance.

12gb is fine in most nearly all cases

I'm not planning on using supersampling with the Reverb G2. Native resolution should be more than enough. But I would like to turn up as many quality settings as possible. Im told that textures love Vram.

In VR elite odyssey defaults to 1.0 SS. So it's something to be aware of.
Oh might add that default depends on your gpu of course

In VR, the more the merrier. You are rendering twice the amount of textures. In the VR benchmarks I have seen graphics RAM usual often gets very close to 8GB, often over. The 3080ti performs very similar to the 3090 in VR. Especially compared to the 3080. I wonder if it due to the 2 extra GBs of RAM? Don't know.

Interesting. So that would be 90hz, ultra settings? What kind of fps do you get in an active RES?
Just got GPU mem at 15.2 GB, docked at McQuay Holdings
90hz, ultra / max settings everything, but using the "AMD FSR 1.0" not "Normal" in the Upscaling setting
Running game from Steam VR at 100% (3164 x 3092) and HMD Image Quality x1.25
Getting a minimum FPS 44, but usually around 80 / 90 ish
CPU Ryzen 9 5950x with a slight overclock (max 60 Deg temp)
GPU RTX 3090 FE is undervolted (max 58 Deg temp)
Both CPU & GPU are watercooled. I'm using the EKWB Active Backplate for the 3090 FE keeping the GPU Memory cool

Excellent intel. Thank you very much. Hm. So 12GB Vram seems to be a bottleneck for optimal VR performance. 3090 it is then. :)

You can get a 3090 FE from ebay UK at £999.99 now
Avoid the £950 one I'm not convinced its new as stated, the back of the box seals don't match the others listed or the box for my FE

Ed plays in lower res in a window pc while you run in vr, you wont run the vr in normal native resolution. Therefore you will use supersampling to boost performance as you need to generate a screens worth of pixels per eye.
Basically needing to run your gpu in 8k, 4k eye if possible

To achieve this and not waist resources you wont run your monitor at normal resolution

Wait till Oct 12th and just get the new 4090 for about 400 more. Claims to double the performance in Mic Flight sim.
