How to avoid Gankers.

Modules that cannot be directly damaged such as cargo racks, HRPs, and MRPs do not show up on subsystem lists. Main sensors are also hidden, despite being a fully damageable, external module, due to a relic of the days before reboot/repair (back in 1.0-1.1 torpedoing sensors was a sure fire way to cost the target a rebuy as there was no way to get them running again to request docking permission).

Did two runs with 64t of cargo each time yesterday in Open on PS4.

Anyone with an interdictor, no racks and weapons comprising mostly of frags/PA's/railguns got a cheerful

"I wonder what you're upto Cmdr ;)"

No responses
No attacks

All goods safely delivered - confidence and a solid build is a wonderful thing!
That's only on account of the PS4 community comprising of, well, a better standard of people. I know that may be hard for some people to accept, but it's true. 🤔

I'll chime in: blocking is lame.
Chose another mode if you don't like to be attacked.
Or fly an open-fit build and survive 99% of all ganks (commonly referred to as "git gud").
The People here in this Forum usually love to advise you on open-fit builds and methods to survive, so
just ask here, via PM or in a new thread.

STOP READING MY MIND RIVERSIDE!
Seriously though, that's exactly how I play. Have a virtual fistbump.
Indeed, word for word my approach as well.

I used to be a bit salty in the beginning, and blocked players (who turned out to be the who-is-who of the PvP scene) because usually they were ganking me (in the true sense i.e. a wing of them descending upon me, on top of me flying ships not properly outfitted to withstand even one of them).

I came to see the light and decided to remove them from my block list several months ago (one is still on it due to some unpleasant smack-talk he engaged in), for me it's a sport now to evade them when flying to Jameson's etc., be that in SC or normal space, with varying degrees of success.

As someone who was quite quick with the block function, I urge anyone to use it only where other players engage in unpleasant ways - of which exploding your ship - isn't.

* nod * I'm a proponent of the Block feature, on the caveat that it's (a) used sparingly, (b) as a last resort, and (c) people on it don't stay there longer than they need to.

It's all a bit subjective though, I admit.

It is, and I realise I've become a lot more mellow over time, especially with a bank balance so high I don't know what to do with it.

Occasionally, it still gets me - there's this one guy who whacks me on a regular basis, usually because I'm flying a PvE build running missions. I blocked him temporarily as I was getting fed up with it, but realised he's not doing anything wrong per se. And the one time he destroyed me in my Beluga (fitted with mines) I even learned something - don't reverski in it if your opponent flies a shield tank that's faster than you and can simply boost into you while you deploy your mines, basically using them against you. It did get a chuckle out of me even although getting hit with rebuy, loss of missions, fines, loss of rep and the feeling I wasted my time for the last 45 minutes (stacked PAX missions with multiple jumps - I was on the last stretch when he got me, and not even in a PvP hotspot) plus the hit to the ego was a bit hard to stomach:p

(edit - ftr, I unblocked him months ago and he got me another couple of times since. Last time was another pax mission but I just shrugged as I'm doing these more for sightseeing than anything else these days).

Another thing we just recently discussed in another thread: Don't wonder if you get attacked if you are pledged to a Power Play faction (e.g. to unlock the prismatic shields…). Nothing to do with ganking. That's part of the game...

yea, but solo will mean an escape from everyone else, not only from gankers.

But when we're all buddies who will we "gank?"

Circle gank.
