Why try and avoid the problem, and block the person so you can continue to fly your paper airplane in open?

How about doing some engineering, research and getting an inside look on how these Griefers operate?

All it takes is some time and effort, but before long you won't have to worry about getting ganked in open at all. It's really easy.

Whats that old saying? An eye for an eye leads to a nation of blind men? How about Blocking every "shady" CMDR you see leads to empty instances and basically solo play in open.

I am actually in the process of starting a new noob friendly series on my youtube channel, giving people a inside look at PvP, Ganking, Engineering and ship builds. This is one of the topics that I will be bringing up.

Generally I agree with you, but I can also see the pov of people who don't want to play competitive, but relaxing. I know, I was one of them once, too.
But then it's best to use Mobius etc. and don't be afraid of "ganker scare in PG". I never understood why I should play open+block instead of PG.

^ this is where i am now. leisure flying
sometime in the future might find myself in the camp of "Kill 'em all" or even <Kill the "Kill 'em all">

Back on topic, blocking should be done cautiously, otherwise Solo/PG are way better

I used to be an adventurer like you, till I took a rail to the knee...

I understand your position, and quite frankly I do sympathize with the more "Relaxed" players. However all it takes is a bit of knowledge and some engineering in order to escape a gank. You don't need a total min/maxed war machine, but it helps when you are flying something that isn't made out of wet cardboard in Open.

To the people who can only play a few hours at a time, either devote one evening of playtime a week to engineering (It doesn't have to be much but over time it will make a huge difference) and it will change your whole Elite experience. Till then, stay in PG or Solo. Blocking is not going to solve your issue.

Because the chance of meeting someone in Mobius is just as high as playing solo or maybe a bit higher. 😉 I understand the OP's problem: he wants to meet other people, but not gankers. He just refuses to accept that people that think like him are just a minority and are already either in solo (because they don't want to meet anyone) or in private groups, where they again don't meet anyone. :ROFLMAO:

Given the nature of people this is an unrealistic expectation for 'Open' and is the reason the private group Mobius has enjoyed such success. 😞
Mobius feels nearly as empty as solo. I haven’t seen another player in there in months (I don’t frequent hotspots). Plus, since we know that most folks in Open don’t PvP, it’s a better solution to just block the few that shoot at me and move on.

With the gloryfied community Goal now ongoing i saw quite a few people trying to Gank.
So i thought ill list some things on wich you can easily identify a Ganker / Griefer and block them before they can even interdict you. Blocking them makes it ALMOST impossible for them to get in the same instance as you or even interdict you because they dont show up in your instance after interdicting you.

First sign of a Ganker / Griefer: An absoutely stupid name like: Achickenforallseasons, Alottarebuya, Randomtwelveyearoldwizzard, Saltedcottoncandy.
Second sign of a Griefer / Ganker: A Holo Me looking like a Zebra fell into 20 Buckets of different Colors. Preferably very old ones.
Third sign of a Griefer / Ganker: A Cutter, Corvette or Anaconda on a Community Goal that only supports small and Midsize ships. Beware of FDLs too.

If you see one of those Signs or even ALL of them and you dont wanna get ganked in your little Diamondback or ASP, block that Person. If they somehow manage to get in the same instance with you and pull you out (if you both share a Friend on the FL this CAN happen), Dobt forget to HIGH WAKE, not low wake since high wake dont suffer from Mass lock.

Btw: Dont mistake a Player-Pirate for a Griefer, a Pirate will never just kill you, he will interdict you, scan you for Cargo, steal your Cargo and then go. A Pirate only kills if you are Rude to him or dont oblige to his requests.

Have a good Day and good Luck on the new Community Goal.

Edit: Woah, calm down Friends, it was more of a "fun Thread" and i thought the Zebra with 20 different Colors made sure people would understand that.
Dontcha get so angry everyone.

What a wise guy, you impressed my owl

Speaking for myself, i have neither the time nor the inclination to be bothered about dealing with gankers or griefers in game. The game provides various options to deal with them without playing their game.

I cant believe how seriously everyone takes this Thread... i mean.. i got a Pirateflag myself...

Every post takes on a life of it's own.

But when we're all buddies who will we "gank?"

That's never stopped anyone.

I got all the way to the end of that string of nested spoilers and didn't even get a lousy t-shirt.

ROFLMAO have fun in cheat land. I save my pvp for games where the devs make an honest effort at balance.

I think you're grossly exaggerating the problem.

Yes, cheats exist and it would be nice if Frontier did more. Most people you encounter in PvP aren't going to be cheating and writing off the entire experience because someone might seems like a paranoid overreaction to me.

Last night I was fighting off a raid by 3 players in Conan Exiles. I was out numbered, their thralls were higher tier than mine, and their gear was higher tier. I stayed and fought because I knew that with Battle Eye at least there was some chance the fight would be legit. Not that Funcom is the bastion of AAA game quality or anything, at least I know they are trying to fix their game.

FDEV has allowed this 3rd party app survive for what 9 months? Longer? How would anyone know in this game if what they are facing is not fixed? Is this the only mechanism for tweaking ships? No thanks to pvp in ED.

Similarly, most people you meet in Open aren't going to attack you (depends on where you go), and most systems contain no more of a threat than they would in solo.
