Ships How to Build a Ship for Surviving in Open

It's not just about reducing the hull HP to zero. Rails and PAs cause significant damage to internal modules. Like the fsd or shields or PPlant. Repeated high waking only to be interdicted again and again can reduce even a cutter to shreds
Course I'm taking a pursuant as being a rather dogged ganker hehe.

My point is operating under the very reasonable assumption that the Cutter pilot doesn't lose shields, because there's no reason that they should at all. A high waked Cutter is gone, and will regen shields before they try to run the system again, so they aren't slowly getting whittled down, they will come back with full health the next time, so there's no reason they should die.

Obviously not everyone does this, but the point of thread is doing things the proper way to stay alive, not doing things in the way that get you killed. :D

This is why I also pack an armoured PP & 3x MRPs, I had a power plant shot out while docking during my early tanking experiments! Repeated interdiction can definitely catch you out, especially with a prismo.

No vids, but next time i see "them" i will try to remember to take screenshot.

"They" almost look like little moving/glowing flat-ish flying-saucers in Space. And when i /targetted one i could swear it had a player NAME.

i was def. 100% 'SOLO' mode too when it occurred . -- *Although, now i'm sorta confused about THIS: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/elite-dangerous-update-18-05-thursday-16-may-2024.625478/ ( re: "Ensured new players correctly remain in Solo Play until performing an initial hyperspace jump which will then transition players into Open Play." ) ....because does that mean when i took a hyperspace jump yesterday i got automatically booted into 'OPEN' play mode?? Or does this new change from tonite's maintenance mean that will start happening tomorrow?

Just sort of an oddly worded patch-note sentence imo.
Sounds like a bug of some description.
The transition refers to the Starter system.
You shouldn't switch modes in the middle of a session though I've certainly had occasions where I thought I was in Solo only to find I'd logged into Open by mistake.

Actually i figured it out: It was just NPC ships , like for the 'Federation' & such , who seem to resemble "player" ships and were flying nearby and i guess the game sorta gives them "player-ish" type names?

Then again , it's also very possible i got auto-swapped into 'open' either after i hyperjumped ...or... after i grouped with a buddy for a couple ground ( Odyssey ) CZs.

Either way, imo it's always fun to have some healthy gamer/pilot ( gotta watch yo six! ) paranoa. 🤖
