How to curry favor?

Which missions are the best for improving your reputation with a faction? Are they all the same? Do greater value missions reap better reputation gain? are illegal missions better?

How to curry favour?

Firstly, don't do anything that'll make the factions mad(ras) at you. Once you cross them, you get a fine or even a bounty on your head. Korma's a pickle mistress.

But seriously...

I haven't done many missions myself, but there are non-mission ways to help this.

Fighting in general seems to help. Fly to a RES in a system controlled by the ruling faction, especially a RES with authority ships fighting there, kill Wanted folk, hand in hundreds of thousands worth of bounty vouchers to the appropriate faction. For me, I very quickly rose to Friendly to the major factions on an interstellar basis.

Also, handing in exploration data will help, but it seems a fair amount will need to be handed in.

Finally, trade regularly with that station and the faction will slowly like you.

The best missions for rep seem to be the ones where they want you to give them something for free - usually food or weapons. Note that this is anecdotal, but I seem to get to friendly/allied a lot quicker with these missions then the standard fetch missions.

Well done sir! Well done!

I personally enjoy cumin, coriander and turmeric, with a healthy dash of garam masala to add to my curry! (PS: I LOVED Repton when I was a kid!)

Joking aside, handing in bounties works extremely well. 1.5 million cr sent me from Unfriendly with the Feds to Friendly. The values may not be the same since the bounties rework, but handing in those vouchers makes friends with those in high places!

Donation and Assassination missions are great, just be sure that you're taking them from your faction of choice!

Trading and Exploration will also improves your rep levels with the owners of the station you're trading too, but to a lesser extent than the above methods.

I thought curry was a flavor?
It's actually a dish as well as a spice but can also be a verb as in "to gather". Funnily enough, though, I read the post title at first as "How to curry flavor" and thought for a second someone was looking for cooking tips. :D

If you're trying to increase your rep for a given major faction, you'll need to increase your rep for multiple related minor factions.

In other words, don't waste your time grinding missions for just one minor faction - visit more than one system and spread out who you are doing missions for. Just make sure they're all minor factions of the major faction you're interested in.

You can do pretty well with fairly innocuous missions such as delivering data.

Just need to talk to the right person.

well first you have to gain a lot of influence with one of the powers.

Then, you chop him/her up into little pieces, and add your chosen curry mix. Add the other ingredients and simmer until done.

Curry or curry powder is not a spice, but a blend of multiple spices. Very different.

If if you want to get in bed with a faction, pick up missions from them and complete them. Focus on anything related to couriering and especially the missions that have the + plus sign above a hand icon.
