how to direct message someone in chat now?

Hi there,
just wanted to send a direct message to another cmdr.
It used to be that if I pressed return when targeting a player, he was selected as target for a direct message.
Now it just says "to [local]" as if no player was selected.
So how to direct message now?

  • /d (or /direct, or /to) then a player's Commander name then your message to send a direct message.
  • /r (or /reply) to respond to the last ship that you received comms from.
  • /t (or /target) to send comms directly to targeted ship.
  • /w (or /wing) to send comms to all members of your wing.
  • /v (or /voice) to send comms to players you are in voice comms with.
  • /l (or /local) to send comms to all ships within range.

Thanks Koen, I know the prefixes (well, the more common ones), but so far targeting another player also targeted him as the recipient automatically. Now it doesn't. Even /t doesn't work. Just says "to [local]"...

Going to disagree. The ability to land on planets is going to be hard to top, except by being able to land on all planets. So the start made in Horizons still holds the #1 spot. That said, and taking nothing at all away from the first class work that has gone into Beyond, Beyond easily holds the #1.5 spot. For all it has given us, these really are the things that Should Have Been all along, though this would have delayed things to the point of rivaling Star Citizen for development delay.
So I’m glad for how things have gone and look forward to what is to come.

update:

Had another try and it worked (player was selected as message target).
Targeted another player, hit enter again, but the message target was still the player I had targeted before.
/t didn't change that
Tab brings me back to "to [local]"

Seems messed up to me....

I thought something was up when I said hello to another cmdr earlier as I have had them targeted which usually sends direct message but it ent local [where is it] .

So seems there is a bug!
