How to find chemical manipulators now?

I was after seeking weapons poi's but then realized they are not in game anymore :D

What's the best method to get these nowadays? Should I go blast t9's in anarchy nav beacon?

I tried dav's hope but got none of them.

Find a system in Famine, go to one of the Distribution Centers (you will see them in your Nav Panel).

Scan the wakes of the ships jumping out, might take a bit to get however many you want and/or need. You will get other data while you are there, some of which you might also want.

I recommend a fast, nimble ship, but any will do the job.

Edit: My bad, reading failure. Forget the above, unless you are looking for Datamined Wake Exceptions.

DavMart is where I get Chemical Manipulators, unless Frontier stealth-nerfed it in the last week or so.

Fly to Tollan 1A, there is a Naptha Class Tanker there, simply pull up to it, and check contacts, you will see a mess of materials just floating about, chemical manipulators galore! Be CERTAIN to bring some collector limpets and don't forget to game switch (collect a bunch of manipulators, log off live switch to solo, rinse repeat!)

Best of luck Commander

Thanks alot. I'll go check it out.

Note that the tanker follows a flight plan. It was at Tollan last week when I farmed there though.

The ship's Canonn page should also have its current position but the script seems to be broken atm.

Last time I checked I found chemical manipulators at 'Dav's hope' in the System Hyades sector dr-v c2-23 on Planet A5 at Coordinates 44.818 -31.389

Excellent tip, CMDR!

I spent there an hour relogging but no manipulators for me.

So if it's not Tollan now it should be at Okinura? Is it always at 1A in that system?

I recently just tried the old method of going to the Unidentified Signal Sources. I was in Shinrarta Dezhra. I just avoided the 'Convoy Dispersal' and 'Weapons Fire' USSs. Most of the other USSs seemed to yield Chemical Manipulators. They were quite rare though. I seemed to find none for ages, but then got a bunch of 2 and 3 together (yielding 6 and 9 as they come in 3s as you know). I think I ended up with about 39 units altogether, in about 2 hours. Not a great return, but I was watching tv whilst doing it so it was just a relaxing zoom around the system whilst foraging :)

I don't know how often the ship jumps, and can't remember exactly at which day I was there. Should be Tollan or Okinura though. All those systems are quite close to each other (1 jump in my AspX iirc) and the ship shows up in your systems list directly after the jump like stations do, so it's easy to find (I think it's always at the same spot for each system, but not always at 1a).

Edit: It's a reasonable guess the tanker's position changes thursdays like most other game mechanics do. I believe I was there after last Thursday, so it should be at Tollan like CentrumSilver originally said.

If I'm feeling evil I go farming chemical manipulators by blowing up T9s in distribution centers

Wasn't it combat aftermath in independent anarchy systems without a system state?

To be honest, I'm not sure. I've always just collected them in Shin Dez. I've always been able to find them there, but possibly they drop more readily in specific systems/states. But yes, the Combat Aftermath USS does drop the Manipulators. But so did a few other USSs (one about Degraded Emissions, or something similar, for example), apart from the Convoy Dispersal Pattern, Distress Signal and Weapons Fire.

Has the tanker something to do with aegis research? Tanker was at Tollan and when I started to take picture all the fighters attacked me. I wondered why and saw that I have 70k bounty in aegis research that is dormant for one more day. Or do you always have to clear the escort first?

I find them in lots of places. I dropped into a convoy dispersal site, there was a wanted sidey. I killed it and got some CMs. I got some from a destroyed ship in another USS.

You used to be able to go into a CZ and there would be tons of stuff but you'd have to join a side to ever see it, which is odd.

Have just arrived at Dav's Hope, looking for Refined Focus Crystals, after...being interdicted and shoved through the planet and out the other side, a bizarre wireframe experience!

I'm getting plenty of Chem Manips, so for me it's still the best method. 21 now in 20 minutes of taking it easy.

Combat Aftermath Signal Sources. Just topped off at 20 last night.

The two best signal sources to find are High Grade and Combat Aftermath. Between these two, you'll find most of what you need.
After these two, Encoded Emissions are good more for the Private Data Beacons that often yield Modified Consumer Firmware.

I have done this in the past few weeks. Dav's hope spawned zilch for me this time. So I googled it.

What works reliably is ..... find a High Security System and sit in the Shipping Lane between Nav Beacon and the nearest station. Cruise slowly keeping in that lane. Look for USS spawns in that lane for Combat Aftermath or Encoded Emissions, and you will pick them up there.

This video explains the method I used. It works. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxQzUAyQDWk

Another option is to go to any Anarchy system and farm HazRez, destroying all ships you come across. As these systems flag all ships as 'lawless', you won't pick up any bounty for destroying any ships that spawn in the area, mining and transport included. It won't be the fastest way to collect Chemical Manipulators, but it will allow you to kill two birds with one stone - allowing you to collect them while also increasing your combat rank.
