How to get back into the game when playing casual only?

Thanks a lot for your opinions. Maia seems to be a good spot to head for. I shouldn't be to far off that anyways. I think I ran a traderoute to and from there when I last played.

About the python: As others mentioned it is versatile. this is why I grinded for that ship when I played a lot. I had an imperial clipper before wich was good fun too but lacked the versatility. I will use it for now and see how it goes. I saw that quite a lot smaller ships have been added and then there is allways the cobra.
I think I'll take my python to Maia and see how it goes from there. Checking out the sights sounds reasonable. Exploration is one of the main parts that financed this python back then so it is my sort of thing.

Some will disagree, but if you have a decent Python, I'd recommend selling the hull, buying a Krait MkII and swapping all your modules over. If you're not fussed about BGS/max trading to outposts, I think the mkII is a superior multi-role ship for casual play - same firepower, faster, better cockpit, and can carry a SLF as well as an SRV.

Then I'd definitely head out to guardian space. There's some nice things to see and do, and you'll likely collect enough stuff to earn a couple guardian modules (FSD booster!).

I own ED since it was released. I played it in VR only. At first with a DK2 then with a vive. In the meantime I got my Pimax 5K+ that I backed and had a quick look again and it looks fantastic.
I used to play quite a bit and I do have a python that is quite well decked out. I then stopped playing because other hobbies and especially my two kids took most of my attention. I check back in every now and then because I simply miss that fantastic feeling of flying a ship in ED VR. Usually I log out one hour later without having achived much.

I'd apreciate getting some hints on what to do ingame when all you have is an hour or two max every few days. I don't need to have a federal corvette with the best equipment or anything. Just achivable fun stuff. Last time I logged in I thought I'd do some trading but after doing 40 jumps I logged out and was bored. :)

Here is what I recently...

Flew to Sol, opened up the FSS and found both Voyagers. I had tried a few times with the Ghost Giraffe's excellent video, but I could never really get the stars to line up properly. (Story of my life! HA!) Anyway, the FSS makes it easy peasey.

Then, I headed out to finally unlock the Guardian stuff. This, believe it or not, takes longer than most engineers to unlock. And I am on like step 9 of 12,942.

Some may find what I do boring, but as I have said time and again...

I like to fly spaceships in space.

Krait Mk II and Python are essentially equivalent, except the Krait carries less cargo but is more flexible, in synopsis. If you put C2 multi-cannons on the Krait and fire them they're right there next to you and the rattling off of rounds is great. The cockpit is very well-centered.

Also butnif.

The C2s are very well placed - I have Hammers in mine. The real selling point for a casual multi-role (for me) is the speed and having a fighter to play about in. Especially if you're going sight seeing - the view from those is great.
