Hi all,
I have been playing ED for two days now with the DK2 - I had quite a hard time to set things up as the current OVR runtime still buggy. In order to get the head tracking you need to do two things!:
- first on desktop click Windows button + R to open up the execute pop up (on Windows 8 - 8.1) and type in taskkill /im wscript.exe /f
- then you can:
1. still with the same command kill the OVR service => taskkill /im ovrservice_x64.exe /f
OR
2. with the new oculus configuration utility you can "pause the service" (go Tools then Advanced then pause - do not forget to turn it on again for other démos etc)
Anyhow, you will still encounter issues with the galaxy map with the rift ... very hard to select stars you want to go to atm ... it actually stops me from using the rift.
After there are many others tweaks to get it working properly in order to get a proper rendering. Be patient for Frontier to issue a real DK2 support and for OVR to give us a proper SDK... Bear in mind that it is a dev kit though
Also for people having issue with the F12 command personnaly it always worked for me so you must have done something wrong on your end.
At last maybe some could help regarding one issue I am having with the game:
The game is very dark and the entire ship cabin is very orangy... sometimes the image get very bright (much better and clearer) when I look with some extreme angles and or when the tracking camera seems to glitch. Anyhow I believe I should see the game as bright all the time and that I am playing dark as it glitches in fact all the time. I believe it is related to the camera not properly working and sometimes it suddenly briefly works. any ideas? Or I'llhave to wait for SDK and / or frontier actual support for DK2 (I believe the problem lies in their hands for this specific issue).
At last I will also test supersampling ED to a higher resolution it apparently works pretty easily on ED but will obviously require much more powerful rigs (somes peoples are having FPS issues with 780 with ED supersampled xD)
