How to get to Darnielle's Progress?

How do I get to Darnielle's Progress?

I flew out to Maia, both to see a Thargoid with my own eyes, plus I need some Meta-Alloys.

According to EDDB.io, it's on "Maia A 2 a," which I assume to be the first moon of the second planet of the first sun, but all that shows up as navigation markers is 'Unexplored,' yet it lists a name for the first discoverer. Am I supposed to acquire a discovery scanner and find it for myself? The only civilization I see in the system is a station and an outpost.

A little help, please!

It is showing as unexplored because YOUR navigation computer doesn’t know what’s there (apart from it being a planet.)

Fly towards it, as you get close to it, it’ll change and open up it’s details.
If there is a base on the planet, that’ll also show up.

make sure you've got horizons expansion pack running ;)

Pretty sure he can land at Obsidian Orbital and Purchase the data for the system. Darnielle's progress is 6000km from the orbital

Four ways to do this:

1 Scan with Advanced Discovery Scanner (OK, you might not have this)
2 Jump into Nav Beacon and scan the beacon (a white or grey diamond symbol)
3 Fly towards the planet (if you can see it) and more detail will emerge (but that's a hard one, but how the early explorers used to do it !)
4 Go to a system nearby and buy the data

If you have enough credits, buy yourself an Advanced Discovery Scanner, it will pay for itself a hundred times over. But (2) is a cheap and easy solution.

I spent upwards of 10 hrs trying to get my ship to "see" Darnielle's Progress" from anywhere outside the planet. I could see it on the planet's map. But i could NOT see it while next to the planet or any number of LS away from the planet. So I bit the bullet. Purchased the expansion pack HORIZONS. Restarted the game. And voila. As soon as I left the Obsidian Orbital, there it was. Omg.

Oh, if you are there for meta-alloys, there are still some spots around that you can still farm them. At least the last time I was in the Pleiades I checked on my secret spots and they are still growing.

The crazier thing (other than me spending 10hrs trying to comb the surface of the planet by crisscrossing the surface by ship), is that there are actually people adding to this thread besides me. LoL.

If you're picking up a meta alloy for Farseer, don't make the return trip in Open unless you're OK with players trying to destroy you on the way back in to Deciat.

If you made it to Maia you must know about fuel scoops... One of the most basic rookie mistakes that many people make when leaving the bubble 😙
