Newcomer / Intro How to handle Dormant bounty ?

Guys, thank you for your replies and comments. My bounty is now 1.200Cr (after all those vain attempts to remove it) - 6 days, several hours .... I'll stay in the area, just will avoid one system - it should work. If not, I'll let you know :) Anyway I'm smarter a little bit for future adventures :) [up] or maybe will start some travel meantime and will add some points to my Exploration rank ..

BTW .. is it possible the game (engine) becomes spiteful sometimes (or maybe as your rank rises) ? Yesterday I got two fines ..
Leaving station, I flew slowly (speeding little bit, but really not much, let say 125). Was flying straight, no turns .. then another ship hit me from behind ... and immediately got message "200 crs fine" ... second event was quite similar .. entering station, just in the "doors" (and I was at the proper/green side) another ship just appeared in front of me and hit me .. again .. 500crs fine .. I know those affairs happen sometimes (got some fines due to driving offence already), but it seems to be more often nowadays .. maybe higher rank, maybe new ship (Vulture), maybe more assassinate missions or maybe just feeling ... ?

It doesn't happen so much in a big ship. As you progress up through the ships, you have to be more careful about what the others are doing. I found that you have to fly either very fast or very slow to avoid colisions. if you touch another ship in the no-fire zone at a speed of 100m/s or more, you get fined. If he hits you hard enough to blow up, the station will most likely blow you up.

.. Good tip [up] I know there is such option, but haven't realized I can use it now for this purpose .. thnx ..

Unless, of course, you happen to be that pirates first victim ever (or that pirate turns out to be a bounty hunter) firing on a clean vessel even if the KWS shows bounties elsewhere, well the words "square one" comes to mind...

I use this thread to ask another question .. just for clarification (actually it has nothing to do with my dormant problem discussed above ... I mean this question in general) :

1) OK, I'm wanted
2) somebody who is CLEAN will find me and will attack me. I mean he shoots me first.
3) I will respond and kill him ... does it mean I will get another bounty ? Or, as a target of his attack, I am entitled to defend myself ?

You are wanted, he is clean, things stay the same, shooting back will first give you an assault bounty then a murder bounty (if you win) as long as they have scanned you first because they are on the correct side of the law, you aren't.

There are, of course caveats to that statement.

(1) As mentioned they need to scan you first if they shoot first before completing that scan they will become wanted too
(2) You need to be in a system where you are wanted, you can carry any number of bounties from different systems but if you are clean in system then you are clean in system & firing on you would be a crime *as long as report crimes against me is switched on

I think your dormant bounty will have a timer on it. Wait for this timer to expire then you can pay it off. I got into a similar situation trying to do a high security base skimmer destruction mission. In the end I abandoned the mission, took the reputation hit then went to a different system where I was not wanted. After a week I was able to return to the system where I picked up the bounty and paid it off.

Yes, it will remain there until the timer runs out, and then you can pay it off, and all is well. I have one at the moment also, 6-7 days is normal for it to
remain
