Newcomer / Intro How to map neutron star jumps

I know how to supercharge the FSD, but when it comes to mapping the route, most guides aren't any help.
How do I use the extra jump range? The router just keeps pointing me towards a star some 40 ly away.

Perhaps worth mentioning, the neutron star is not the primary star in the start system.

The router doesn't use non-primary stars, so neither should you

Are you using fastest routes and use jet cone boost ?

Now the router reserves the boost for the last leg. But by that time it will be gone of course.

If you are already supercharged, you can manually plot the next jump (4x current range or thereabouts) in your direction of travel.

How do I do that then?

Hover over a star at your max range in the direction you want to travel and press the targeting icon (first on the left) instead of the routing icon (the second one). After the jump you can re-plot the rest of your route.

The ingame map doesnt have these options.

One of my first ever jaunts out into the black, I did a few of these, I got about 7,000ly out and my FSD broke, it doesn't like these jumps. I didn't have an repair module on board, was unaware of the repair/reboot thing, so I had to suicide. Keep an eye on your FSD health when doing these Neutron jumps.

And use manual plotting as advised
