Horizons how to pay a fine with out getting blown up

hi, everyone i shot a couple of skimmers and i got a bounty. ive gone in the station with the correct faction to pay a fine but the station states tresspassing when im in the station. but ive gone through control and they gave me a landing pad. they have blown my python up twice, i only got the bounty two hours ago and i have 6 days to pay. im in no power play. please help

You can't pay off a bounty.
A fine and a bounty are two different things. You get fine for minor things like firing in a no-fire zone or having an illegal cargo onboard. You can pay off those.
But when you get a bounty, there is no way to get rid of it. (well, there is, but I'll get to that) Every bounty has a timer of different length, depending on the crime. Only after the timer ran out, the bounty will turn into a regular fine and THEN you can pay it off. But until then, you will be wanted in said system.

When you die, while having a bounty on your head, it will turn into so-called "dormant bounty" you won't be seen as wanted, but when the security ships scan you, they will see it and the bounty is reactivated. (hence they're gonna shoot you, again)
So the solution to this is either don't ever get scanned (which requires some skill, especially around stations, plus you have to keep away from resource extraction sites and other places where police is a common sight) or you can simply move to another system and stay there for the time being.

There is a way of getting rid of the bounty permanently - If other player scans you, then kills you and claims the bounty, then you are clean (alas it still requires you dying)

So the easiest solution to this is simply to move somewhere else. Galaxy is big, and even the small inhabited chunk of it means tens of thousands of systems where you can set up shop. So don't beat yourself over it. :)

Glad to hear you've worked it out. I still don't understand your original problem, though. You wouldn't get blown up for a fine.

hi chris, i was doing some surface mining, when two skimmers popped up i shot them thinking i will get a bounty like i always did. for some reason i got a fine for shooting them. i dont know the diffrence from the ones i recieve a bounty for or the other ones i recieved a fine for. anyway, i went to the station in the same system and faction and where i recieved the fine, got my landing pad number and as soon as i entered the station it stated tresspass you must leave with in a minute so i did as i got out of the letter box the police killed me.

Not sure if still accurate but this should help:

Hmm, so according to this even claimed bounty remains as dormant on your head, if I understand it correctly?
Once I'm back in the bubble, I have to try to ease my soul, I guess. I didn't die with a bounty on my head for ages, so what do I know?

Full disclosure it may not be accurate anymore. Ive been trying to source it to see if there's a new version but sadly all I have is a link :(
It gives a decent idea though.

If I'm understanding the chart correctly, it says you only pay off legacy fines as part of rebuy when you respawn at a station owned by the minor faction the fine is for? I could've sworn you always are forced to pay legacy fines for anywhere no matter where you're respawning at?

Don't worry about it. Even if it's not entirely correct there is a lot happening with bounties and fines and this gives some insight. [up]

I had a fine in another system that totally vanished after I died. I also had a bounty expire and nothing more ever happened with it (I didn't die in the meantime).

The expired bounty turns into a fine, but fines sometimes don't show in the transactions. You may be surprised, one day, when you stumble into the system. :D

Just to further confuse the issue, although it may shed some light on OP's problem actually, I had a disappearing fine for three days recently until I sorted it out by a blatantly meta method.

Fine was gained by abandoning a mission; I had some cargo to haul, saw another cargo mission which was offering some engineer stuff I needed right then but didn't have enough remaining cargo space to take it, weighed up the pros and cons and abandonedthe first mission before dumping their cargo in a station. As expected, 18k fine for mission failure from the original mission-giving faction with a 7 day timer on it.

I did the second cargo mission, got my engineer stuff, headed off to pick up my Vulture and onwards to my old mate the Dweller, Vulture upgraded, logged off.

Logged on the following day and because I'm so damn nice and always pay my fines, first order of business was to head to the system where the faction have a presence where I could pay it off.

Checked my transactions tab just to be sure and yeah, there it was - 18k fine, 6 days and some hours.

Plotted course, jumped to system, landed at station, went to contacts in the station and had no option to pay the fine.

Checked my transactions tab and the fine isn't there any more. Not one to worry about things like this too much, I headed off to do other things.

Day after I logged in and set off to do some deliveries for the CG. Picked up, arrived, dropped off and checked my transactions tab to make sure the delivery had been credited, what the actual frak??? My 18k fine is back. Note this wasn't from the CG faction or anything, the fine is from a minor faction in a system about 200 LY away that I hadn't visited at all that day. The timer is now 5 days and some hours, obviously the same original fine.

Having played this game for nearly a year I'm nothing like daft enough to immediately jump back to the fine system again. I worked out that the last time I'd definitely seen it in my tab the day before was about 30 minutes after I'd logged on and I'd been playing for about 15 minutes at this time, so I did another few trade runs. Checked my tab after about 45 minutes and sure enough the fine has vanished again. Carried on playing for the night, logged off.

Logged back on yesterday, checked transactions and imagine my complete lack of surprise when I saw the fine there again now with 4 days left to run. That system is actually one that I want to go back to anyway, so I decided to fly over. It was quite a trip. On arrival checked my tab and yes, fine has vanished and contacts at the station doesn't give me an option to pay it.

So I logged out. Logged back in and there it was in my tab. Hit contacts and there's the option to pay it, so I did. All of which shows that even taking account of the convoluted routes which fines and bounties are supposed to follow, there definitely seemed to be something buggy about that partcular fine.

I amazed you figured out a workaround. It's almost more convoluted than the bug itself. Well done :)

What you describe would indicate that you flew to the wrong pad.
Either that or you encountered a very rare bug.
