How to record OR video?

I've seen a lot of youtube videos recorded in OR mode (for lack of a better term) and I'd love to know how to do it. Anyone know?

I found if I send the youtube page to the second screen and go full screen I can watch them just like I was in their ship, without tracking of course. It gives a very cool perspective on the video that's for sure. I'd like to try it.

I started out using Playclaw, but it had some limitations and the file sizes were fairly large. Still not as large as Fraps through :).

Now, any time I'm recording with the rift, I record with the rift in extended mode using xsplit broadcaster. It costs money, but it's very easy to setup recording of one "eye" and a little webcam of myself in the corner, and the file sizes are tiny, making uploading less painful.

There is a free open source application called OBS that many people use successfully. If you're more patient then me (almost certain) that would probably be the best place to start looking.

OBS works great, although depending if you want one or two eyes output you have to play with the cropping and positioning.

I did also get it to work for a short time with the pre-process eye output hack that is elsewhere on this forum - but more recently it stopped working and seemed to still only output the two eye version.

One thing to note with OBS is its processor intensive and can cause frame rate and head tracking issues with the rift and Elite so your milage may vary

I use Bandicam and Blender for the editing.
The second screen still works, just have to put the script in the file again and after each E: D update.
If you give the option for detecting, Bandicam gets the window where the game is running, Oculus Included.
With the second hack screen you just need to position the capture window and record. Plus you can start and stop recording with key presses then also with Voice attack ;-)

Yesterday it still worked for me - maybe SDK related - I'm still on 4.2.

But anyway - since the OP wanted to record in the two eye version, it doesn't really matter (odd - I find the low framerate and having no head tracking on my own whilst my head is passively thrown around in youtube videos highly uncomfortable).

Recording the two eye version worked with OBS and Shadowplay as well as Fraps and MSI Afterburner for me iirc.
