How to... scan a Framshift wake in SC?

Since 1.3.06, I read we could do this.
However i haven't been able to scan one !

Did anyone manage to do it?

Thanks !

Quite interesting thread.

Stupid question:
Did you assign the scanner to a fire group?
Did you try experimenting with different distances to the wake? (based on different rated wake scanners have different max distances, though I do not know how this applies to SC)

I don't know about high energy ones, but low energy ones don't need a scan, you just get within 1 Mm and drop out...really hard to do this tho since your ship doesn't slow down automatically like it does for anything else, so its really easy to overshoot

Didn't know this was supposed to be a thing. If you can I would be interested to know how.

1) Yes, I also deployed the hardpoints etc :)
2) I managed to as close as 15mn (or something like this) to it, and it was still out of range

You can only scan high power wakes I think?

Low power wakes mean they've just dropped out of SC into space in that same system (or gone into SC from being in the location).

Drop out near the lower power scan and they might be around there?

I may be completely wrong but that's how I thought they worked.
