How to Scoop as fast as an Asp in your DB Explorer (TEST RESULTS)

Mjmw, the trick on blue stars is to exit early and make up the lost fuel on the next M class. You can actually scoop more than you used on the last jump at M stars ;). Yeah it's not relaxing at all, and a 10 hour slog would get pretty iffy. Remember, the jumps don't always have to be perfect since there are a LOT of M class stars to make up the difference, and you get a free scooping reprieve every time you replot (hopefully only once every 1000LY).

Yeah, but with a 2 or 3 jump tank it can get very sweaty relying on the next one being an M-class star ;) Also, I personally found scooping during the plot too slow, so now still do the scoop as quick as possible and then dive in and out of the map as fast as possible (I think it helps me keep my jump rhythm). My throttle goes to 100% at Galileo and then stays there until the jump into Sag A :)

Yeah you can't do a speedy 16T tank in a DBX, as I stated in the (extra long) OP, that would be pretty risky, and you probably have to replot several extra times as a result. My throttle only drops for replots and to avoid the occasional collision while doing my twist to realign for max scoop rate. (In an Asp/Cobra this is usually a simple U turn). You must be a fast plotter if slowing down throttle reduces your total jump time more than the FSD cool down addition!!! I need the FSD cool down to replot while keeping my total jump time around 50s on that initial jump.

Hmm, put like that...maybe I need to have another go at plotting whilst scooping and find a decent angle to leave the ship at, so firing up the FSD whilst accelerating away after plotting doesn't cook the ship.

On my last run I was taking about 15-25s longer for plot jumps (so 60-70s), but this was a pre-plotted route (so copy and pasting way-points). Are you saying you are getting your total jump time, including plotting, around 50s? If so, that is mightily impressive :)

Sorry for diverting your thread to BBRA techniques, tell me to shut-up if you want ;)

Not a problem :) yes the total time was 50s. That was my fastest time, but I think it's not unrealistic with practice if you're not too picky about your destination. It basically means plotting in about 20s. In the core, yeah that's not happening.
