How to search for items for species without typing in search every time?

Am I missing something or is there seriously not a way to quickly see all habitat and nature items for a specific species? If I want to see all the enrichment items for a species, do I have to type the species name into the search filter every single time and then remember to clear the search every time I'm done? And for nature do I have to select filters manually for continent and biome every single time? Like why is there not a button in the animal info enrichment tab to "view all available enrichment items for this species"? And a button in the environment tab to "view all nature items for this species"?

I played through the tutorials and this seems like something you have to do so constantly that I can't fathom playing through the whole game and having to type in a new search for every single animal every time I want to add nature or enrichment.

Please tell me there's an easier way

(Pardon that I grabbed the screenshot off of google, but I drew a red circle around the filter button)

Thanks for your reply, I'm aware of the filter button, what I'm asking is if there is a faster way to apply a filter for a specific species without going through the process of clearing any previous filters, clicking the filter button, expanding the species list, and scrolling through every species in the game alphabetically to find the one I'm looking for. For nature items this process is even worse because you first you have to look up the animal's continent and biome, then you have to add multiple filters.

I would think this would be a one-click process, not a 30 second ordeal that I will have to repeat hundreds of times to play the game. If I have a Aldabra Giant Tortoise (or its habitat) currently selected, there must be some way to apply the "Aldabra Giant Tortoise" filter to the Habitat menu (or the "Tropical" and "Africa" filters to the Nature menu) without manually doing it myself.

So again, I hope I'm missing an easier way

I'm not aware of a better way either, perhaps something they would consider improving in the future? I could imagine something like an extra button alongside the "go to zoopedia" button on an animal that is "go to this animal's habitat items" that takes you to the habitat item list with that animal's filter applied. I use the zoopedia button occasionally, but a button like that I would use all the time!

There are buttons in animal tab. It just filters plants in the habitat. Just change it to filter plants for habitat in buy menu.

Is it really a problem that you have to type in animal name and then clear it if you want to clear it? What you suggest or want seems like it would be additional steps in filtering rather than just typing it in as it is now, since what you want requires having the animal available.

Also, what you describe is literally what the filter button already does. It shows all enrichment, etc. for that animal. I really do not understand what the issue is except you rather the filter button be somewhere else essentially.

It would not be problem (for me) if the foliage filter also included filter by species and not looking up the biomes and continent (some plants are not tagged correctly anyway)

So you're saying clicking a button to open up the filters dialog and then scrolling through a list of every animal in the game to find a specific animal is just as fast as clicking a button? I guess we'll agree to disagree.

I'm not interested in doing hundreds (if not thousands) of manual searches just to play a game, it would end up costing hours of time, it takes you out of the game, feels like work, and is tiring to do repeatedly. Especially for something that is such a core part of the game, i.e. building specific things for specific animals. Even worse is that all the functionality to make it 100x faster is pretty much there already, just sitting there taunting you.

I just got done playing 150+ hours of Planet Coaster and although there are plenty of issues with the UI there wasn't anything that felt this draining.

It would be great if PZ had a "recommended" window feature like ZT2. Like this:

In PZ, you could click the animal to open its profile, then you could click to a tab that shows all recommended items for that species within the profile. Then you could sort by type (trees, plants, enrichment, food, shelter, etc.). All without even opening the habitat panel. It was really handy in Zoo Tycoon.

If that was the way to do it sure it would be annoying. But you can just type the first few letters of animal name instead. So yes, I am saying that is quicker than finding the animal, clicking on the animal to then click on an option to open up the habitat menu with pre-filled animal species filter. But maybe for some typing in the name is annoying, might be a good QoL thing to implement. I'd rather the current issues get worked on first though.

As for foliage, I get why that would be an issue since it doesn't work same as habitat interface. But you don't need to scroll through a long list there for biome and continent.

You can type the name of the animal you want in the habitat filter list? I wish I knew that earlier, I always hate scrolling through the tiny tiny checkbox list with all of planet zoo's many many animals (especially ones where I can't remember if the name has extra bits like "common" at the start).
This is much better for me, but for people who have a lot of blueprints and who might want to filter by an animal name AND another search word, that still requires going through the tiny tedious tickbox.
After all, we do already have both a manual open with name search (which if I recall was added in after launch for QoL), and the original click-to-find button directly from a selected animal for the zoopedia to quickly find info about how the habitat should be set up, so making both of these also available for habitat and/or nature tab would be nice to have it convenient for people who work either way!
