How to send a friend request on Steam

How do u send a friend request on Steam. I've clicked on peoples username but I can't seem to find a way to do it. All I can do is Follow a person.

In your steam menu you click on "view friends list" on the right down side. Than you click "+ Add a friend..." win that list and there you type the username of that person

You can also go to the person's profile page and on the top right there is a big 'send friend request' button.
