How to take out a goliath?

Anyone know how to take down a Goliath on foot? I was clearing out a base, killed everyone, started looting and then a goliath started shooting on me randomly (even though it had left me alone up until everyone died)

Two questions really...

1) What triggers it to start attacking? I turned off all the anti-personnel stuff in operations. It started attacking as I was looting, not for the murdering, which seems silly

2) How do you kill it? I ended up trapped in PWR for about an hour because every time I went out it would start firing at me. I tried firing at it, I tried running around it, I tried turning base power off hoping it would die with that etc

Our hand held weapons are a joke at best but they will damage all the flying enemies. I downed a Guardian sentinel with a G2 plasma rifle but I had taken it to 4% hull with SRV first, still took most of 2 magazines to finally kill it. I want the weapons the Scavengers carry, you know the ones that will kill a ship with a few shots.
Best bet is use your SRV to get from parking your ship outside bases to drive to the base so you have some real fire power and a get away vehicle that can run over... er... I mean out run ground forces.

One size 3 and four size 2 dumbfire missiles do the job perfectly. That is the setup of my ground assault FGS.

Taking out its shield with my G5 TK Aphelion takes around 1 magazine. The hull however was extremely tedious, with my G5 AR-50, it takes around 5-6 full reloads, (a couple thousand shots) to take out. The rocket launcher might be better for the hull but I haven't tried yet.

The shield can be switched off with a few shots with the laser pistol.
But the case is mega, I tried it with 2 rocket launcher and once shot everything empty with ar 50 and c 44 and did 15% damage.

Hearshots against humans do more damage, maybe the Goliath has some weak spots we have not found yet.
Has anyone tested it? Should be easy to program a part of it as the head.

Bring rocket launcher, karma guns (these can be used to kill the Goliath) and laser gun (for dropping the shield)
Dominator suit is recommended.
So:
Step 1. Murder everyone on the base. Then disable all alarms/turret, usually in the CMD building, will make the job easier.
Step 2. Find a building with suit charger and ammo box nearby.
Step 3. Lure the Goliath there.
Step 4. Shoot Rockets, guns, re-charge suit, reload ammo. Rinse and repeat.

It takes a while, the Goliath is one tough SOB, but it will eventually crash. Say, 15-20 minutes of constant rinse and repeat.
