How would you rank the continents?

By this I mean like 1 to 6 (leaving out Antarctica because everyone will put it at the bottom anyway. If you have a counterargument to why it should be her though that's fine). I'm just interested in what different people prioritise. I'll start with how I'd do it as an example:

1. South America - definitley the most lacking. Needs more diversity specifically in its non tropical areas. Some good pick would be mara, Spectacled bear, marsh deer, more monkeys.

2. Oceania - this continent is strange cause nearly everything else I want is like nothing in the game. I feel like I need to make a realistic aussie zoo oceanic section. Some good picks would be echidna, tree kangaroo, an aboreal lizard, tassie devil.

3. Africa - even though it was very over saturated compared to other places I'm base game. African animals are probably the biggest staples of zoos. After getting a small grassland cat there's nothing big I'd say is missing now besides a baboon. Everything else would just be the cherry on top.

4. Asia - specifically Mountain Asia needs more rep as well as a bit more the Indian steppe. Takin, markor, Pallas cat, blackbuck please.

5. Europe - Europe is in a place where like Africa it needs 1 or 2 more essentials but then after that everything else isn't very exciting. Boar and polecat/weasel/Ferret are the main ones. Can't think of anything else I want besides mabey a rabbit and stork.

6. North America - ok this may be controversial but I'm fine on NA. I want a peccary but I'd rather the chacoan over the collared. Besides that mabey a roadrunner. Idk it just feels pretty complete after the Armadillo to me.

Now you give me your takes. You don't have to right loads like I did. You can just list them if you want.

1. South America - major representation needed for tropical birds (macaws, toucans, scarlet ibis), monkeys (at least 4 or 5, honestly), and a few other species like the Patagonian mara, rhea, coati, peccary, two-toed sloth, Andean bear, and ocelot.

2. Africa - despite having some of the highest representation in the game overall, the existing African animals are disproportionately megafauna and there are a ton of common and desired zoo species from Africa. Bare minimum in my mind is a true baboon (hamadrayas), a tropical monkey (mantled guereza), a crested porcupine, and at least a few ground birds (secretary bird, guineafowl, southern ground hornbill, grey crowned crane, etc.).

3. Oceania - the Tasmanian devil is at the top of the meta-wishlist with tree kangaroos not far behind. But my most-wanted animals are birds--budgies and lorikeets for walkthrough aviaries, as well as the black swan. An echidna would be cool too.

4. Asia - The continent with (I believe) the single largest number of habitat animals could still use a few more, in my mind. A lot of interesting ground birds and waterfowl for both habitats and walkthrough exhibits, ideally at least one tropical/subtropical monkey (lion-tailed macaque?), at least one goat species (takin or markhor),

5. North America - most of the bases are covered but speaking selfishly as someone in the Northeastern US, a few more species to beef up native wildlife sections would be fantastic. The American black bear, North American porcupine, and North American river otter would satisfy me (assuming we can't get non-walkthrough aviary birds--if we can, bring on the bald eagle!), and the wolverine is also widely-requested. If you count tropical Central America there some overlap with South America.

6. Europe - We're pretty much fine with regards to endemic European species. Wild boar, wolverine, white stork, an Old World pelican, and crested porcupine would all be good to see but would also cover Africa and/or Asia.

7. Antarctica - A proper Antarctic penguin would be nice but I don't regard it as a major priority at all. Otherwise there's nothing with even minimal captive presence.

1. As of now, South America is the most lacking. It took a backseat to Oceania for the longest time, but it's needed so much more now than any other continent. Amazon and non-Amazon areas. There's so much that hasn't been touched on with South America mammal wise...so I'm not even including its most obvious omission - birds. My mammal picks - a Sloth, Spectacled Bear, Coatimundi, Patagonian Mara, and Tayra all are within my own top 15 mammals I want to see, then you add in at least 2-3 (at minimum) New World Primates. The Brazilian Porcupine, the Ocelot and a Peccary are also great picks. If we counted in birds, South America would come up at the top of the list just for birds alone, much less combined with mammals and reptiles.

2. Africa. This continent will almost always be the backbone of zoo games, and when compared to iconic recognizable animals in the wild and zoos, deservedly so. And this runner up spot is a little weird too because just by going by the numbers, we have plenty of animals to make impressive African sections in our zoo. The key with Africa is not overall representation, but specific animals that are wanted. And there's a bunch of them, which is why this comes into second place. The Red River Hog, Crested/Cape Porcupine, Black Backed Jackal, Bat Eared Fox and Masai Giraffe are all in my top 15 mammal wants (so that's 10 out of 15 spots accounted for with just two continents). To say nothing of habitat possible birds like the Secretary Bird, Shoebill Stork, Honey Badger, African Civet....and....I could just go on and on and on with Africa.

3. Oceania. From game launch up thorugh the point of Twilight, this region was unquestionably the most in need of more animals. What's happened since Twilight is getting 3 very well known "staples" of Australian Wildlife. What's needed now mammal wise is the Tasmanian Devil, a Tree Kangaroo, and a Grey Kangaroo all in by top 15 mammal wants (so that's 13 spoken for, to count). Adding in the Kiwi and the Little Blue Penguin, and another favorite of people's with the echidna. That's not a huge list, by the numbers, but on the other hand, amount of animal wise, that's more than half of the number of Oceanian animals we have in the game. Which is why I put this at #3. Not a lot, but ratio-wise, a lot.

Big...Long...Gap....the bottom 3 are all very well represented IMO, only one major want...that appears in all 3 continents ..the Wolverine (which is ironically my most wanted mammal at this point). I could probably just say, give me that one animal and I'll be fine if we get nothing else from the next 3 continents......

4. Asia - By virtue of West Asia/Middle East not having a lot of representation, I put this slightly ahead of the other two...the Wolverine of course, then there's also a Saiga Antelope, another Gibbon..it's mainly the fact that so much of Asia is concentrated on India and East/Southeast Asia. The Central and West could really use some more representation too, and that's like half the continent! Potentials for Sandcat, the Markhor, the Golden Jackal...we just need a good scenery pack's worth of animals to fill out that half of the continent.

5. North America. I'm pretty good for representation on my home continent. The Wolverine obviously..and the American Black Bear rounds out that 15th mammal on my top 15 mammals. That alone puts it in not last place. But I wouldn't be opposed to the Coyote, Big Horn Sheep, Muskox, Walrus, Rocky Mountain Goat, Arctic Hare, North American River Otter, North American Porcupine and even potential for a Peccary and Coatimundi depending on the species. But really...I can do without all those and can even do without the Black Bear so long as we get the Wolverine.

6. Europe. Again, the Wolverine. And the Wild Boar would be great as well, but it's not in my top wants, which is why Europe is in last place. I'd not be unhappy with the Eurasian Brown Bear or Eurasian Otter...but again those bleed over into Asia as well. So if the Wild Boar also goes into Asia, there's not a single solely European species that I am actively looking to see added. So hence, a relatively easy last place.

Hmm... By the way, for simplicity and so it doesn't seem so clustered, I'm going to neglect talking about flying birds:

1. South America - like, y'all, really. Why explain? We have good choices already, but it feels weak at the same time, which is a shame because South America has some of the most interesting and diverse animals on the planet. And that's excluding birds. In general, 2 or 3 more monkeys AT LEAST are needed to make this better. We also could use the rhea; look, I know it's basically the South ostrich, but it really is necessary for representing the pampas...
2. Asia - in my opinion I feel like something is missing. What it is, I'm not exactly sure. I think we need the blackbuck and a 3rd Japanese animal. And monkeys. Langurs and macaques, y'all...
3. Africa - in my opinion, it's more or less complete, but to make it much more complete I'd say that the needed animals are the red river hog, secretary bird, Somali wild donkey. And, like the 2 before, monkeys...
4. Europe - I'm actually quite satisfied with Europe. All I'd want is the wild boar. My other ideas are a Eurasian brown bear and also a proper Eurasian wolf...
5. Oceania - like the one before, I'm quite satisfied and anything else is just a bonus. But for animals, I'd want a tree kangaroo, Tasmanian devil, and kiwi...
6. North America - I'm happy with my home and don't require anything EXCEPT the American black bear. That's the last essential animal. Anything else is a bonus...

I think you get the idea. For all the Old World and South America, the most needed are primates (wherever they are found). The New World and Europe are actually quite good; Oceania, Europe, and North America are quite satisfactory in my opinion...

There are so many animals I still want:

1. South America: The map looks so empty, and there are so many good options. We mostly need monkeys, birds, a sloth, and the popular trio of carnivores.
   1. Need: howler monkey, ocelot or margay, coati, spectacled bear, tropical habitat bird, tamarins, macaws, toucans, sloths, emerald tree boa
   2. Want/still kind of need: spider monkey, squirrel monkey, rhea, mara, tamandua, peccary, deer, manatee, tegu, harpy eagle, hoatzin, condor/vulture, blue poison frog

Really nice to have: guanaco or vicuna, other tapir, Brazilian porcupine, bush dog, uakari, saki, night monkey, rockhopper penguin, pacarana, other croc/caiman, kinkajou, fox, marmosets, conures, quetzals, blue-footed booby, mata mata turtle, eyelash viper, at least 1 more of following: deer, tropical birds, and small cats
2. Africa: The map is full, but there are still so many great options.
   1. Need: colobus monkey, guenon, baboon, serval, crested porcupine, jackal, dromedary camel, red river hog, secretary bird, crowned crane, fossa, stork, chameleon, griffon vulture, grey parrot
   2. Want: honey badger, addax, kudu/eland, dik-dik/klipspringer, patas monkey or another guenon, Somali wild, hornbill, guineafowl, civet, springhare, spurred tortoise, crocodile, leaf tailed gecko
   3. Nice to have: sifaka, aye-aye, black rhino, bat-eared fox, leopard, Masai giraffe, gerenuk, hartebeest, mangabey and some more monkeys
3. Asia: I’m feeling happy with a lot of the lineup, but we still need monkeys, hoofstock, small cats, and a few birds
   1. Need: markhor, muntjac, takin, blackbuck, grey langur, golden snub-nosed monkey, another gibbon, Pallas’s cat, Mandarin duck, golden pheasant, hornbills, Philippine eagle, sea eagle, cobra

4. North America/Arctic: There are still a few gaps, mainly the American black bear.
   1. Need: American black bear, musk ox, wolverine, walrus, sea otter, turkey or another habitat bird, bald eagle, burrowing owl, snowy owl
   2. Want: bighorn sheep, Roosevelt elk, bobcat, peccary, ribbon seal, waterfowl, canid native to Mexico/SW desert (grey fox, coyote, red wolf), San Francisco garter snake, raven, snapping turtle
   3. Nice to have: Rocky Mountain goat, white tailed deer, porcupine, black footed ferret, heron or egret, songbirds?
5. Oceania: I haven’t seen as many species from here. There are a lot of great options for small marsupials, but small animals don’t look as good in the big habitats. A few well-chosen options would be nice though. It’s very possible that I’m missing stuff here.
   1. Need: Tasmanian devil, tree kangaroo, sea turtle, kiwi, echidna, rock wallaby, budgerigar, cockatoo, kookaburra, lorikeets, frilled lizard, thorny devil
   2. Want: perentie, black swan, bilby, spotted cuscus, blue penguin
   3. Nice to have: quoll, brushtail possum, grey kangaroo, quokka
6. Europe: I’m pretty happy with the current lineup, but I would totally understand if other players want more.
   1. Need: mute swan, domestics (IF they add them, Europe has some of the best: highland cow and mini donkey/pony), eagle owl
   2. Want: wild boar, pelican, pine marten or another small mammal, chamois or another ungulate
   3. Nice to have: stork, barbary macaque, another ungulate (wisent, mouflon, roe deer), another small mammal (marmot, wild cat, otter), another bird, brown bear?

1. South America and it's not remotely close. It's pretty much lapped the rest of the pack in how underrepresented it still is. There's not even that much numbers-wise that "needs" to be added compared to Africa or even Asia, but it's still missing some of its most iconic and indispensable species.

• Sample high priority habitat species: ocelot, coati, Patagonian mara, greater rhea, spectacled bear, Geoffroy's spider monkey, golden lion tamarin, Guianan squirrel monkey, black howler, white-faced saki, Brazilian porcupine, southern tamandua, Brazilian tapir, Chacoan peccary, I guess a two-toed sloth even though my internal sloth pendulum has swung back to "not worth the trouble" lately

2. Africa. Heavily represented, but it's also the continent with by far the most iconic zoo species and the most untapped potential by volume. Lots of gas left in this tank.

• Sample high priority habitat species: Hamadryas baboon, African crested porcupine, mantled guereza, grey crowned crane, red river hog, fossa, African spurred tortoise, banded mongoose, bat-eared fox, aoudad, dromedary, addax, greater kudu, bontebok, common genet, radiated tortoise, sand cat, serval, at least one guenon, any number of lemurs

3. Asia, same deal as Africa really just to a somewhat lesser extent due to having fewer truly iconic zoo species and managing to pull in a decent number of somewhat more obscure species (thanks SEA Animal Pack). Specifically, India and the Himalayas stand out as the regions most desperate for some new blood.

• Sample high priority habitat species: raccoon dog, sloth bear, blackbuck, nilgai, lar gibbon, lion-tailed macaque, fishing cat, Pallas's cat, Sichuan takin, markhor

4. Oceania. Would've been a firm second place prior to the Grasslands Animal Pack - the emu and wallaby seriously do that much heavy lifting for the region as far as international zoos are concerned. I think we could certainly use a bit more by volume, but I don't really see any specific individual must-haves at this point, they're largely all just as good as the next.

• Sample high priority habitat species: Matschie's tree kangaroo, short-beaked echidna, black swan, North Island brown kiwi, and people would be out for blood if I didn't put the Tasmanian devil here even though I'm personally "whatever" towards it so there's that one

5. North America. Almost completely satisfactory except for one genuinely essential species.

• Sample high priority habitat species: American black bear

6. Europe. I'm good here. Totally understand why some wouldn't be, and I respect it, but European species just don't exist in any meaningful quantity in American zoos, and at the end of the day that's what my wants and perception of needs are going to most closely align with. There's a few I'd be fine with, but none that I think are necessary.

Just wanted to clarify. This is more of just seeing what everyone would personally over what would ethically be the best for everyone. Just what do YOU want most.

That's precisely why I put Oceania as 2nd as mine cause I want like 10 more species from there. I thought people would be more inclined to their home countries like me but North Americans seem pretty content just lacking the ABB, Wolverine and Walrus.

How would I rank the continents?

1. South America - this is the only continent that I feel is largely incomplete. We need lots more monkeys, Andean bear, vicuna, rhea, mara, ocelot, pudu, even alpacas aswell to make south America an acceptable continent rather we will likely never see half of south America represented
2. Africa - Hot take #1. Africa is still lacking a huge variety of animals to be considered acceptable , African savanna habitats are always full of substition animals for my recreations especially antelopes and birds like crowned cranes, storks, guineafowl, and antelopes like kudu, eland , gerunuk and much more. Don't even get me started on monkeys
3. North America - Hot Take #2. I primarily build north American zoos so of course representation towards north America is essential like Europe is to people who regularly build European zoos. Frequently missing Animals missing could be : mexican wolf, literally any tortoise, white nosed Coati, bighorn sheep, American crocodile, white/black Tailed deer, Roosevelt elk, wolverine, musk ox, mountain goat, American black bear, American flamingo, Canadian lynx. You get the idea but a biome specific north American zone is increasingly hard without European substitutions
4. Oceania - I don't know Oceania to me personally is largely complete but there are a few animals I would love to see like the little blue penguin, Tasmanian devil and tree kangaroo. Red kangaroo, wallaby, and emu is like 75 percent of realistic Australian areas
5. Asia - I really don't care much about anything else for Asia apart from some Highland animals and maybe some tropical monkeys. Takin, Pallas Cat, and a tropical monkey like say a Francois Langur would do me
6. Europe - ah the irony of a european not caring about Europe. Wild boar that's it . Alot of other animals are either north American , just another ibex like animal or petting zoo animals

Besides just ranking im also gonna mention what imo is missing in essentials and what number out of 10 i give them, with the lowest of 6 being underwhelming but useable, 7 okay for international collections, quite incomplete for local, 8 is just generally good with a small amount of animals missing but more then useable, 9 is close to perfect and 10 is pretty much perfect with imo no essential animals missing.

1. South America (6/10):
The one continent that actually still feels incomplete. While everything else is atleast fine, south america really isnt mostly due to the lack of non tropical animals aswell as primates which really should be as diverse as african antelopes as both feature as the main bulk of each continent.
The fastest way to get South america up to snuff would be 5 primates (White Faced Saki, Black Howler, Coppery Titi, Cotton Top Tamarin, Emperor Tamarin would be my choices), the south american coati, collared peccary, a rhea and the patagonian mara for classic habitat animals. South America also is the region most in need of flying birds so if we get any in the WE aswell as an Aquarium exhibit to represent the Amazonas id think wed be fine with anything else being a neat but not needed addition.







2. Oceania (7/10):
After a big Gap we reach Oceania and this marks where the continents go from lacking to fine if you dont plan to go into detail.
From an international perspective, we are good but we would have been good allready with just the emu, kangaroo and wallaby from an international perspective and from australia itself, yeah we are mostly fine besides the lack of a monitor (lace is bae), atleast one more macropod with the yellow footed wallaby being the popular choice, the allterrain echidna that has touched every piece of australian dirt and some waterfowl with the black swan being the most important. The real meat and potatos come from the rest of oceania, mainly new guinea. Im honest, new zealand is nowhere near essential imo, but new guinea can show with a tree kangaroo, victoria crowned pidgeon and the pig nosed turtle all bringing not only something new and unique to the game, but also being among the most common oceanian animals in captivity. Tassie devil is based aswell.

3. Europe (7/10):
Europe is in the same boat as oceania, where its fine from an international point of view but not from a local one and being home to about half of all recognised zoological facilitys in the world, with germany being the country with the second most zoos in the world after the US with a ranking of 371 US, 309 Germany and at the third place 89 for Japan. And this isnt even counting most wildparks to my knowledge.
But what is actually missing? For basics without domestics Wild Boar, for more then basics and only listing common zoo animals that arnt anywhere close to clone territory we got red squirrel, beech or pine marten, alpine marmot, chamois, european mouflon, european rabbit, ring necked pheasent, mallard duck, mute swan, western cappercallie, white stork, european wild cat and the european polecat and if we also include domestics, the shetland pony, scottish highland cattle, domestic ferret (i count it here cause its the domesticated version of the european polecat), ouessant sheep, flemish giant rabbit and lop rabbits. Sounds like a lot, which is cause it is as you really cant go more indept with not skandinavian europe rn then your choice of deer (the correct answer is both), your choice(s) between 3 small carnivores and if you want to incorporate the ibex and grey seal or not. Theres only very little variety in what kinds of enclosures you actually can build and atleast having an arboreal animal and a species of waterfowl are a must imo.

4 and 5. Asia and Africa (8/10):
These guys are basicly in the same boat. Great variety of animals besides 2 black spots being monkeys and birds and asia suffering in ungulates, aswell as each having one geographical blackspot in north africa and central to north eastern Asia, aswell as a chared one in the middle east. But otherwise? We are more then okay if we got nothing else from these continents that isnt a bird or a monkey with even the geographical black spots being not that pressing areas to fill. I agree that more antelopes would be neat, but we got 10, we dont need more, eventhough i would like some. Same goes for animals like the red river hog which would be neat but can be for any purpose besides aestethics can be more then easily be substituted by the warthog, in fact i just did that and it works great.
For some animals i actually do wanna see, the Marabu Stork, African Dwarf Goat, Southern Ground Hornbill and the Great White Pelican, aswell as a baboon and one or 2 other monkeys like the mantled guereza and debrazas monkey would do the trick, while for Asia a takin, muntjak, mountain goat (i like himalayan that more but i can respect the markhor), the domestic Yak, Blackbuck, 1 or 2 pheasents like the golden pheasent and himalayan monal , aswell as the bare headed goose and atleast 1 duck, mandarine being prefered and the obligatory 2 extra monkeys with the java langur and the lion tailed macaque being my choices.

6. North America (9/10):
Imo North America is near perfectly represented and im not saying this from a point of not wanting more NA animals but simply being genuinly allmost completly happy with the NA roster. The main 2 things still missing are the collared Peccary and Birds, with the domestic turkey and sandhill crane being imo two very nice additions. Otherwise the white tailed deer deserves to be mentioned as north america has no "normal" deer yet to fully complete its woodland critters. The NA Porcupine is also pretty dope, eventhough its an animal that while neat doesnt feel needed, but id easily would like to see it more then the ABB, eventhough i know how important they are to NA players as NA allready has 2 bears but allmost no arboreal animals (hello trash panda my beloved being the only reason i said allmost instead of no).

Thats my from what ive read so far pretty hot take but hey, somebody gotta speak up for that little underappreciated man called europe and against the 2 giants that could do with more but really dont need it besides monkeys birds and in asias case ungulates.

1) South America
Enough species on the list for an entire South America Pack 2 to not break a sweat: Spectacled Bear, Howler Monkey, Sloth sp., Ocelot, Tamarin sp. tamandua, etc would be rock solid out the gate.

2) Asia
Technically, significant chunks of Asia have never been specifically represented in a pack including Russia, China, India, Japan, the Middle East and Central Asia. Most of the big name species are covered now, but it being so vast a continent there are a ton of options. I still maintain that you could easily even do packs based on just Russia, China and India as their own things and still be solid.

3) Africa
Most of the core species are down, but there's some good strong contenders still missing. Crested porcupine, honey badger, red river hog, baboons, shoebill and secretary bird may not be A-listers but they'd round out the roster very well.

4) North America
Not as strong a contender overall, but there are still some solid gaps like Sea Otter, Musk Ox and Coyote.

5) Oceania
Personally, an echidna and a kiwi would for me tick the last essential boxes, although I know tree kangaroos have a lot of fans.

6) Europe
There are essentially no species here that are European endemic that aren't able to be covered in other packs. Wild Boar, Wolverine, Musk Ox etc are great contenders, but are aren't Europe exclusives by any means.

1. South America - The most obviously underrepresented of all. There are so many missing animals from South America that I would deem essential for a zoo game: Two Toed Sloth, Spider Monkey, Tamarin, Mara, Rhea, Scarlet Ibis, Coati, Kinkajou, Spectacled Bear, Ocelot, Peccary and Burrowing Owl are the main species that I’d like to see introduced before I feel like we have a great selection of South American habitat animals. This isn’t even TOUCHING on flying birds like Macaws, Toucans, Amazons and other flying birds. PLEASE, Frontier... make this South Americas year!
2. Europe - The most dividing continent amongst the players here. I still believe that Europe is VASTLY underrepresented when it comes to essential species. Without the Eurasian Brown Bear, Europe’s apex predator, Europe sections can never really feel complete. Whilst it’s not a likely contender, it’s inclusion is necessary to complete Europe. More likely inclusions, and equally as essential IMO, are the Eurasian Wild Boar, Wolverine, Wisent, Muskox, Chamois, Hedgehog, Marten and Red Squirrel. With these animals, I think that Europe I will finally be satisfied with Europe. Other inclusions would be domestics such as the Highland Cattle and Shetland Pony.
3. Oceania - Similarly to Europe, this continent is very divisive amongst the community. I personally believe it to be in better shape than Europe simply because we can now reasonably build a realistic Australia section with the addition of the Emu and Wallaby. However, that isn’t to say that Oceania is complete. Far from it! To be able to build with no limits for this continent, we still need a few additions. The Tasmanian Devil, Echidna, Tree Kangaroo, Victoria Crowned Pigeon, Kiwi, Greater Bilby, and Perentie I’d say are the most needed additions for this continent. Once we have these, Oceania will be in GREAT shape for habitat species. Additionally, I think Oceania can take a boost in the form of Walkthrough Exhibit animals. Rainbow Lorikeets, Galahs and Budgerigars are all realistic contenders for these exhibits, and would boost this continent massively.
4. Africa - Whilst the African Savannah is doing pretty well, it’s the other regions and biomes of this continent that really need a boost. We’re still missing some really iconic animals, such as the African Crested Porcupine, Barbary Macaque and Dromedary Camel from North Africa; the Hamadryas Baboon, Gelada, Rock Hyrax and Klipspringer from the rocky and mountainous areas; the Red River Hog and Mantled Guereza from the tropical western regions; the Shoebill, Nile Crocodile and Dwarf Crocodile from the wetlands; the Fossa and Aye Aye from Madagascar; and the African Dwarf Goat and Helmeted Guineafowl as domestic picks. There are so many species that would add new things to the game, I could go on and on about Africa for ages. It’s still in better shape though than South America, Europe and Oceania, so it doesn’t need an urgent boom.
5. Asia - Tropical Asia is practically complete as it is. I can only think of one or two species that might be great to have; the Sloth Bear and Guar. Maybe the Sumatran Tiger too (in a similar way to the EBB, it’s unlikely but NECESSARY for Southeast Asia sections). The real holes in the roster for Asia are in two areas; Central Asia, and ungulates. These gaps can be easily rectified however. I believe the missing animals from Asia almost all come from Central Asia; the Takin, Markhor, Domestic Yak and Pallas’ Cat. With the addition of these animals (as well as Sloth Bear and Blackbuck), Asia would feel relatively complete for habitat animals. Exhibit animals are still lacking though, with the King Cobra, Reticulated Python, Orchid Mantis and Giant Asian Mantis.
6. North America - In terms of the most complete continent, North America takes the top spot. Only the American Black Bear and North American Porcupine feel like holes in the roster when it comes to NA. Other animals that are missing from North America have been covered in other continents (Muskox, Wolverine, Coati, Scarlet Ibis, Peccary, Burrowing Owl etc), rounding out places like Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean and the northernmost parts of the continent like Canada and the Arctic reaches. I think North America has received such an amazing boost through multiple DLCs, and I feel that it is now relatively complete.

I feel like the thing with the rep for South Asia is it does cover all the big names at this point, but to me at least it feels like it lacks a full supporting cast?

Like, compared to Africa and the glut of antelope it has, South Asia should be getting at a minimum Wild Boar, Chital, Guar, a langur sp and a couple of pheasants.

If I understand it right, we have to rank the continents based on the amount of animals they still need.

1) South America is the continent that needs more animals, especially monkeys (and coati and bear)

2) Africa takes the second place, maybe not for the amount of missing animals, but because the ones missing are too iconic (crested porcupine, dromedary, addax, baboon, red river hog, pelican, chameleon...)

3) Asia comes third because many of the African animals I mentioned also live in Asia. And we need popular animals like blackbuck, cobra, markhor, takin, lar gibbon and Pallas's or sand cat.

4) Europe takes the fourth place, because I like to build zoos in Europe and I still need many animals common in our zoos (wolverine, white stork, alpine marmot, wild boar, European mink, Barbary macaque, Greek tortoise...). As with Africa and Asia, animal from these three continents are easily found in two or three of them, so it's hard to assign them to one continent.

5) North America: although it's very well represented, I want a sea otter, American black bear, walrus, wolverine and peccary.

6) Oceania, while I understand that for some people there are many animals missing, for me those animals are not relevant because I've never seen them in the zoos I've visited. The only animal I want from here is the Tasmanian devil. Oceania was very underrepresented, but the wombat, wallaby and emu have made the continent almost completed for me.

1. South America - I feel there is still alot animals missing. Especially monkeys! At least 4 species of monkeys, but would also benefit from other "filler" animals - Coatis, Maras, Tamanduas, Peccaries... As well as some colourful habitat birds, like Roseate Spoonbill or Scarlet Ibis.

2. Africa - I know we have alot of animals from there, but as one of the continents most widely represented in zoos, there is still alot to wish for. Crested porcupine and Hamadryas Baboon are a must in my opinion. More rainforest species like Red River Hog, Fossa, again, more monkeys would be also very welcome. Of course, there are also some iconic species like Secretary Bird, Honey Badger, Shoebill, Serval....truth is, just as South America, the possibilities are still great.

3. Asia - The tropical regions are well represented except I think we would still benefit from a Lar Gibbon. But I would still like to see more colder climate animals like Golden Takin, Muntjack, Raccoon Dog, Himalayan Monal...

4. Oceania - Beside Emu and Wallaby, the two must-haves that we got, it has still some very unique animals such as Tasmanian Devil, Tree Kangaroo or Echidna. NZ could also use the representation with the Kiwi.

5. North America - the most notable omission is the Wolverine for me. Would not mind Sea Otter and Musk Ox though.

6. Europe - as a European player, I can say I am satisfied with the EU roster. I know, I know...I am glad we are able to create small rescue-center facilities with the native animals now, but in my builds I mostly focus on the typical AAA zoos, which even in Europe hardly ever have those native animals in any meaningful way.

Yeah that's the only opinion here I agree with everyone on. I'm trying my best to respect peoples opinions but it does just personally infuriate me when someone puts NA in like 2nd or 3rd.

I said before and made a dedicated thread for this. Ranking by continents is useless as the continents are pretty arbitrary when it comes to animals and biogeography.

A better outlook would be through the 8 biogeographic realms (not visible are the antarctic and pacific realms):

I'm sorry but this thread annoys me so much.

Ranking by the continents causes so many people here to say "asia is well enough" and treating all the 4 underrepresented asian regions as less important because south east asia is well represented, while overvaluing the representation of europe, which is just an extension of 3 eurasian ecoregions when it comes to fauna.

SEA having good representation is meaningless when it comes to central asia, the middle east, india and the himalayas which range from nonexistant to averagely represented in the game.

It creates a skewed picture of what is needed for the game which is later echoed over various forums.
