HP Reverb G2 impressions in Elite Dangerous

I'm also not interested in the FPS aspect of settlements - the only on-foot aspects I was looking forward to were in exploration, but I'm not sure (without trying it) how engaging that aspect would actually be.
When I've played the on-foot, I have tried a couple different missions. One I was supposed to kill someone. But he was on a base surrounded by people, so when I killed him they just killed me right back. Another I was supposed to turn on the power. So I had to kill a bunch of guys in that settlement before I could get to the right building. Most of them I killed from the car. I finally got to the building and turned on the power, which was cool. You stick a little thing inside a slot, and press a button and then you're done. Another one, they said go to the crash site and pick up this thing. That was the easiest. It has been fun but not terribly fun.

To me the worst part of on-foot is they are like 15 years behind the regular FPS market in terms of how it plays. Plus there are goofy bugs like when I'm running sideways the gun covers up my face.

I’ve been thinking about stuff to do whilst the first person stuff isn’t my bag (for performance / gameplay / VR-lacking reasons). I’ve decided to give anti-xeno a go, but I don’t have any of the Guardian toys needed let alone the piloting skill. Given that I don’t need to be blasting pirates for bounty and therefore not getting the same bounty between EDH/EDO, this play avenue is well suited to Horizons. So I’ll enjoy excellent visuals and framerate in VR for quite some time whilst I do all the Guardian grinds!

btw. I also did another experiment in EDO, this time setting resolution to 50% and trying the various HMD settings. I found the sweet spot for framerate was HMD 1.25 / SS 1.0. I think the visual quality is very similar to resolution at 20% and HMD 2.0, but with slightly smoother framerate. Not much in it though, and hard to say exactly which is better [or why].
