HP Reverb G2 - The Hype is real

I have already mentioned the same problem in this topic earlier. And it was also fixed only by exiting Windows Mixed Reality and then launching Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR. On another forum, this was discussed and everyone came to the conclusion that this is a Portal error.

Nvidia released a hot fix driver this week that was supposed help VR but made Elite worse. I think they are saying the next driver will completely fix VR but I’m not holding my breath.

If they do fix it they still seem pretty hard to get hold of. 3090s are reasonably easy to obtain but 3080s not so much.

I think with both AMD and Nvidia it’s getting one that’s tricky. With the current driver mess I’d be tempted to look at an AMD 6900XT if I were buying if Nvidia don’t sort this soon.

Cheers, I went on gumtree, found what I needed, no 3090's tho

There are normally a few on ebuyer. They had some a couple of weeks ago but all sold out at the moment. I didn’t realise how bad it had gotten. This is the first GPU I’ve owned that is an appreciating asset... mine had gone up around £150 the last time I looked.

Anyone else feel that the G2 makes is super apparent that the stars are just a texture painted onto a large sphere?

It feels as if the G2 is so high fidelity that it breaks the graphical tricks you normally get away with...

I've just got one its in the post literally.
Rift S owner i was just curious as to anyone's experiences good or bad. Is it a huge jump from the rift S ? Perhaps I should have waited for another generation

It’s much better than the Rift S. I wouldn’t worry about that. The WMR software isn’t as good but that’s the only downside really.

I know what you mean but it would probably look like the in a real spaceship. It’s just loads of dots of light at focal infinity with no other points of reference for scale. Everything would look like it was the same distance away every direction you look so like it’s in a giant sphere.

So I managed to get my hands on a 6800XT last week to power my G2 and have been doing some messing about in Elite and it makes a hell of a difference being able to play on ultra! Anyway, took my first adventure into a ring system and the asteroids get horribly pixelated around the edges (something to do with the fog?) so is there any fix for this? I did a bit of research and it seems turning volumetric effects to ultra is the answer, though the issue is still there, just massively improved.

Quite annoying I have to drop settings to workaround this bug. Seems it's been about long enough it should have been patched by now.
