HP Reverb G2 - The Hype is real

However 10 GB on 3080 sounds like a downgrade in matter of RAM for 2080ti or 1080ti owners.
That's a bit like saying the new Merc A45s power output is a bit of a downgrade for Merc GT-R owners. I've got a 1080Ti because I always buy at the top of he market for best value in the long run. Ergo I'm only looking at a 3090 because it will probably last me five years. $1400 for a 5 year GPU? Of course - yes

I've ordered one of these too, though I would get an Index in a heartbeat if Valve would only sell them in NZ.
I was thinking about the Quest 2 because the early rumours made them sound like a nice upgrade over my Rift S. But between Facebook being intrusive morons with their sign in process, and their crazy "hardware IPD" solution, I've completely axed that idea.

Really looking forward to getting my hands on the G2.

Looks like that Omnicept edition is real, it was briefly on the HP site menu before being removed. Prolly announced on the 30th!

Benchmarks are flowing in, IMHO unless you're enough stinky rich to afford 8k display and game on it, you'd need to be completely bonkers to overpay 100% of price for 20% performance.

I've yet to watch these vids but I've been following events closely enough to know what they are going to say. What I don't understand is why there is so little difference between the 3080 and the 3090, when one has 20% more CUDA cores and 150% more VRAM. There is a pretty gargantuan difference between 4K and 8K, yet 10 - 15% in 4K translates to the first 8K GPU? Doesn't the 3080 have the peripheral connection for 8K because that kind of has to be the only difference that makes any sense?

Edit: I started watching the GamerNexus video and what I said is addressed.. its mow cow droppings, basically :(

Okay, so we know - 3080 or wait for 3080ti with more ram. AMD surely present something worth waiting because it may cause a slightly price drop of 3080...

I love how he keeps adding positive vibes as the camera-man hands him cash 😁:ROFLMAO:... skipped to an example below.

Yeah stupid YT people in the comments have often accused Hardware Jesus aka Steve from Gamers Nexus of being Nvidia's shill (or AMD's shill depending on the mixup of fanboy viewer and video subject), so he is poking fun at them :D

Have there been any reviews of either 3080 or 3090 using VR?

I haven’t seen any. Tech Jesus did say people have been asking for one but he said it’s really difficult. Hopefully something will turn up. I’ve been stalking YouTube to see if anyone has tried a 3080 with X plane 11 on a HP reverb but no luck so far.

To be more precise he said that it's nauseating, and people pointed him towards openvr benchmark. IDK if that's taken onboard or not, probably not.

Easy for me - I am only interested in the otherwise impossible-to-buy FE as I refuse the give money to the retailers who are raising prices every 2-3 days. I guess by the time the craze settles down and pricing returns to normal, we will be close to the 3080 20gb launch window anyway.
