Huge Exploit I Just Discovered

I just want to say I think it is cool the OP tries to make FD aware of any potential exploit without revealing it here. I am pretty sure loads of folks would have just took the ball and ran.

After speaking with Alex, I learned that while there is a small opportunity to earn money, the game is already self-limiting, preventing someone from actually earning 100M/hr. After an initial attempt to earn money this way, maybe a few million, the game quickly takes it away.

Well all this has done is pique my curiosity.

indeed it is very decent of him, but like i said before, its x-mas, so can't we have a little present for once, instead of always giving our money to game developers, we take (for the holidays only) a little game credits for us (as x-mas present) :p

Mods, please PM me and I will explain. I tried putting in a ticket but it says 72hours before it gets looked at.

This is a glitch that can literally make 100 million cr per hour
Hello, I am Prince Xanathapafapa from Lave. My assets have been frozen by the last government, and now that the planetary government has been overthrown I can get my assets unfrozen. Unfortunately, I need funds to pay legal expenses before my assets will be returned to my control.

If you would be kind enough to forward me the small sum of 100 million credits, I will be able to regain control of my Assets within 14 days, at which point I will return your money, along with an additional 2 billion credits and a complimentary Federal Corvette, by way of thanks for your assistance in this delicate matter.

Yours sincerely,

Prince Xanathapafapa

all you have to do is head out to the furthest point you can without a fuel scoop. atleast 400ly from the bubble. (you need to go all out fuel tanks, and use the economic travel route) then find any planet you can land on within 200ly of that (away from the bubble) and send your srv out to explore exactly 1.8km from the ship..

then you need to get back in the ship fast by destroying the srv using the self destruct option.
Take off (without getting a new srv) point straight at the nearest sun and fsd in to it. when you drop out of super cruise because you are too close. Kill the engine and wait 35 seconds.
Then point the ship away from the sun and boost away.
finally plot a course back to the bubble and head home, (you have to fly all the way back)
when you re buy the srv from a station in the bubble it costs -100m and you get 100m..

Do you take Lave Express cards? My card number is 3141 5926 5358 9793 expiry date 12/3305 and in case you need the PIN: 4242

Looking forward to fly the Corvette!

That's not a lot of money I make 3 million … WAIT WHAT?

I'm having fun being probably the only player in ED that flies an Anaconda and only makes 3 M/h with trade.

100 M/h, that's a lot. I could…

I have fun. It's not about the credits, it's about the fun…

100 M/h???

<gigglesandmumbles>it's about the fun</gigglesandmumbles>

Well, there's a point to spilling the beans. If it is broadcast on the forums AND to every CMDR the OP encounters, it'll be picked up quick by lots of people.

And we know what happens when lots of people start taking advantage of unintended exploits. FD comes down HARD AND FAST. Look no further than "seeking luxuries" or the recent smuggling missions. Having the "I've got a secret" means it generally stays around for a good while, until it reaches enough mass to show up on the dev's radar.

I personally don't like exploits, even the minor ones, such as logging into solo/group/open modes to get the bulletin board to generate messages, or quick ranking by exploiting the charity missions. And yes, if you've got a good one, definitely let the devs know, but let them know it's serious, as the entire forum population is about to start using said exploit.

As far as repercussions, they don't ban folks for using a game mechanic (no matter how mis-coded it might be).

So this is like repairing your paintwork and having your ship's module integrity repaired for free too?

Err..., oops.

But they can take the "earned" money from those who did. But for that the exploit must be very lucrative and being used by a lot of players - so that it cannot be ignored by FD.
